I just got mine now, ordered the one without the brake light, but this one has the bulb holders, and the connector (tho no connections) and the red diffuser, and the shape/outline of the brake light on the facia, is this normal? i thought they were flush and smooth without the brake light? or have they messed up and given me the more exspensive one? :) i can't see any light through the brake light section tho....

Same mould, just not TBL pressings. I'd have gone for the one with the brake light personally.

nah mate, daft money! weird how it looks the same without your foot on the brake? just sure i have seen plenty that were just a perspex strip without the shape of the brake light in it? thats what i was expecting, no bother really, just seems a bit cheeky of them to include the bulb holder moulding, and the red diffuser, but you can't see it if you put bulbs in???

hundred quid more at my nissan dealer! 52 quid inc. vat without, 158 quid inc. vat with it! skanks, considering the only difference is that the one with the brake light isn't painted black where the light shines through...

MJP is about £100 with brakelight.

No, there's more difference, you get the wiring harness and light unit itself.

don't get me wrong, i'm more than happy with it, but why include the red diffuser and bulb holders if you can't use them....

I don't understand? Why would you not be able to use them? Not seen the back of a normal TBL, didn't think it came with a bulb holder, just a cutout.

now i have a perspex strip with a pretend braked light on it, sorry to go on, just didn't expect it! :)

hmmmm, can't seem to get any light to shine through at all with a torch, will update date ya's when i know more....

to be honest, i ain't bothered! was just curious really! still will look the dogs with my brand spanking smoothed and sprayed boot :) :) :)

I got the same thing arrive at my door today! And yep I was perplexed about that - it's a bit random but there ya go. Unfortunately only 1 of the 4 clips fit, but it seems secure!

It screws in at both ends too. Dont bother with the clips, you want to bond it in otherwise exhaust gasses can enter the boot.

I did find it abit odd that nissan designed the non brake light one how they did, if theres no brake light there, why make it look like there is.

Good idea, yeah I've screwed it in finger tight with washers (didn't want to break it it's like tissue). What bonder would you suggest?

  • Author

yeah, what would you bond it with? :) just a thought, and i am not really brave enough or rich enough to attempt it, but it looks like you can seperate the 'light assembly' from the outer skin, maybe could mod it by making the black perspex clear, a bit like the rear centre panel mod, seeing as the red diffuser is there and the holes for the bulbs/holders? just a thought......

Silicone sealant. Don't use Tiger seal or the other similar type of sealant as you would find it difficult to remove if it gets damaged.

I bailed it matey, haha, didn't take my brave pills, just stuck it on and grumbled a bit whilst doing it, looks the dogs tho, but i am pretty sure something could be done, maybe someone has a broken one that could be experimented on???
