Hi guys,

Had the new car a couple of days now and decided to put my old stereo into it, the car has a conversion adaptor, that converts it to a din socket.

Plug the din socket in, stereo works perfectly but there is no sound to the speakers. Took it into halfords and the guy was convinced the rear driver side speaker was arcing, so we took it home and took the speaker out, plugged in the stereo and unfortunately no luck!

Any ideas?

It depends if you have the original powered bose speakers, or aftermarket, either way they can only work properly one way, so chances are they are wired wrong at the iso end

It's the original bose speakers i'm pretty sure.

Any link showing how it should be wired?

This is the wiring diagram for the iso, also if you do a search on "stereo wiring" there are quite a few threads regarding issues

Well, i've given up now. It's correctly wired, the stereo is working fine but no sound is coming from any of the speakers.

Try to bypass the amp part of the speaker, if it still has them, failing that try another speaker for testing, ie old hifi speaker or a spare one you can get hold of.

on the origonal 300zx connectors, there is a 6 way connector that includes 4 speaker wires. one of the other 2 pins will also be wired, this is the power to the bose amp, this wire does not exist in the standard adapter

feed it with a switched 12v (ie join it to the electric ariel feed or ignition)

also worth bearing in mind that the ground (0volt) wire did not exist in the 300zx loom, ground conection was done by a wire bolted to the head unit and pluged into a crimp on the chasis behind the stereo

When I replaced the head unit in my first ZX I found that the Nissan to ISO adapter did not have a live power feed to run the stock amp for the rear speakers. (UK spec car).

So to fix the problem, I identified the live accessory wire (which runs the electric aerial) and the feed for the amp; and joined them (ISO side) using a scotchlock connector.

I remembered this with my second ZX and did the modification right away!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

do you remember which colour it was?

Sorry mate - i don't.

However I do remember that if you examine the plugs already in the car and match them to the adaptor, it is the (only) one with no corresponding wire in the aftermarket adaptor!

I hope that makes sense.....

is it a uk or jap and what age?

if you look at the 300zx stereo loom it has 2 plugs,

one has 10 pins but is made to look like one 4 pin and one 6pin

the other is a 6 pin, this is the one i think you want , it will probably have 5 wires connected, one row will have 2 wires, the other row will have 3 wires, the 3rd wire is the one you want

It has six wires connected!

It's a jap 96

ah, one grey and one green with a grey stripe?

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

One grey, and one green. It has a grey dot on the green one

i have the origonal stereo from my 95 jap in the garage with the cut off loom still in it. its one of them two for shure. cant remember what the other one did, not sure i ever found out, cant have been important

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

just had a look at a previous post i made on this subject, the green one with the grey dot is the power to the amp.

join it to the electric aerial feed which should be a black wire with a red stripe along it and a grey dot in the middle of the 10 pin connector behind the yellow wire - be carefull there are two wires coloured the same

I just tried it on the blue wire as that is a 12v switch correct?

Still no luck :(

asuming you got the blue switched 12v and not the blue speaker wire
