Just taxed the vert, the reminder quoted, 12months @ £190, when i came to pay it was £205!!!! absolutley scandalous.

They need to spend a bit more money on the state of the roads, pot hole Britian.

I know, I was trying desperately to avoid all the pot holes at heading to the meet yesterday. You really notice them in the Z. My Passat can cope with anything, but they kill the Z!

Good job I only bother taxing and using mine for 6 months of the year!

It`s not fair that we should pay more to tax it just for 6 months too :mad2:

Why the fook do they do that?

I might put a claim in too regarding a pot hole! anyone had any results in claiming from the council?

I thought the exact same the other day when i came to tax the zed, 6 months and it cost me £112 its like WTF, i look back at about a year or two ago and it was less than £100!! Thats quite a hike to be fair!

Yep - I had the reminder at the beginning of this month for £190, checked out this thread and went into a quiet rage when I saw they'd hiked it up another £15! Takes the p!ss - Think I may get into witchcraft and try resurrecting that Guy Fawkes fella - Give him another chance and maybe he'll get it right! :)

Only £205 quid !!!!!!

Wish we were that lucky over here. €1293 for the full year.

Thats why I moved to London lol

Nissan Almera cost me €550 when I was living in Longford

Day light robbery :mad2::death::mad2:

Its £205 to tax anything over 1.6 litres at that age so we should really count ourselves lucky we are only paying that for a 3.0 TT flying machine

My God, is it really that much? That's €500 more than it was last year? How the feckin' hell can your government justify that? I mean, how many cars over the age of 15 years old are there? Why would they want to make life miserable for the few people that own older higher performance cars that rarely get used!!??

I think that's the flat rate for Europe isn't it?

Time to vote UKIP if that's what we're to expect.

It almost makes sense for you to register the car in the UK and get it taxed here....you'd save £1,000!

Too true

if ours were after 2001 it would be about £400 or something like that

Thats the price it has always been, sounds like you are talking about 6 months tax. Its criminal. My X5 which is a 4.6 and is over €1500 for the year.

Car costs over here have always been a rob. From VRT to road tax, although for the newer cars the rates are now determined by emmissions. Much cheaper but still dearer than the UK. Only thing cheaper over here is fuel costs.

If you drive around a UK registered car over here, customs can lift it, but even worse is that the insurance company would probably refuse to cover you, if you had an accident.

So you are definitely not missing the penal car tax so....

I claimed on behalf of my Mrs in November and had no joy, what you have to do is get someone else to report the pot hole...then leave it a couple of weeks and if its still there then you can make a claim.

I just reported it and claimed at the same time and the council took a couple of months to come back to me to say that since nobody reported the pot hole before she hit it, and the council had records that the road was checking by them as part of regular check within 12 months, then they cannot be held liable for any damage.
