My completely boring day has got me thinking about what what everyones day looks like. I mean be really honest how much WORK do you actually do??????

10.00 Go up stairs for free bacon sandwiches and coffee in the building we are in. Get forced to listen to some companies wittering on until we run out at 1055 saying we have a conference call.

11-1230 On here, BBC news, read a bit.

1230-1400 On here again, answer two e-mails stand outside having a ten minute meeting.

1400-1415 ask all my staff how they are getting on make a few management suggestions then back to my desk.

1415-1600 go between here, and bbc news and now ebay to see if there are any little bits I need.

1600-1615 wonder around the office chatting answer a few e-mails

1615-now on here.

Same here mate own/run are own company here, but business is soooooo slow at the moment, phone not ringing sending my blokes home dinnertime but we have to stay and keep things going, i would rather be home sorting the z out.

Like Si, mine is different every day, today for me was.

 

12:00pm - Set off from home to go to a home users site in Plymouth

3:55pm - Set off to Hotel in Bodmin

4:40pm - Get to Hotel in Bodmin

5:15pm - On here about ready to go get something to eat!

 

Thats just today though.

 

11:30am - Diet Coke Break

I drive round in a bright pink van with the simpson all over it, go to about 8 houses a day installing and fixing Sky TV oh and drink lots of tea. Start at 8ish home buy 2ish. Work 4 days then 3 days off then work 5 day then 4 days off. Lots of time to play with the Zed :thumbup:

How is the zed John? have you got the gearbox issues sorted out?

Given up on the gearbox for now, just been cleaning her up. It has taken me 2 days to get that sodding sticker of the back window. Just about to start the brakes might paint the calipers orange as i Know Si has a soft spot for them. I have a few days off soon then the hole of next month off so will try and get the box working then or take a drive to London and pick a free box up. Will try and pop over soon see how you are getting on.

yeah getting there.. just taking ages....

If my box was working I would of had and MOT on mine now. Hopefully then end of May now. If you need a hand give us a shout.

at work by 7:30

snooze in car or mess around with stereo/car/phone etc till 8 when i officially start work

roll van turns up at 8:30

work my arse off till 10:30 where i get a 15 min break

25 mins later ;) get up then work my arse off till 1

half hour lunch

work through till 5pm

drive home

 

repeat steps 4 times a week then on fridays finish at 1:15

2:00 a.m. finish work load from Tuesday.

 

7:30 a.m. alarms goes off... pretend to ignore it.

8:30 a.m. at Work... keep thinking a bacon roll from from the Pasty shop would make me feel better.

 

 

9:00 - 5:30 disappear in a blur of manically trying to deliver on projects that are a couple days late. Damage Limitation management etc.

 

5:30 - 8:00 Quiet in the office as all the "employees" who can't be fooked to work more than 9-5 f*c& off. Get the most done in the whole day.

 

9:00 - 11:00 p.m. will probably work from home.

 

11:00 - 1:00 a.m. tonight. Packing the Truck with selection of snowboards for 10 days in the 3-Valleys.. :) Why isn't there a "two fingers in the air" .gif?

Ussualy its up at 6am

In work for 6.30am

dinner at 12 for 20min

then back home for about 6pm/6.30ish

Your posts have been entertaining me today Madmax! - everyday is different for me, depends if Im at home or out on the road!

Like wise sometimes busy sometimes not so bad... quick run down of this week:

 

Left home 9 ish, arrive on site (rotherham) 11 ish leave at 5 stay in hotel,

next morning on site at 9 (rotherham), leave at 11:30 to drive over to hull for 1:00 leave there at 4:00 visit another customer in hull leave at half 5 drive back to rotherham hotel.

Back into rotherham at 8:00 leave there at 6:15 drive to birmingham arrive around 8 ish birmingham hotel

Customers on both sides of birmingham and nuneaton to visit tomorrow (thursday) then a customer in manchester to visit on friday.

 

Typical random busy week! Next week im supposed to be working from home all week, which will consist of me getting up when the phone starts to ring, having a shower around 11ish when it goes quiet then "working" until 6 ish and repeating until friday!

Normally I stay in bed, but washed and polished 4 cars today. Know what Im doing tommorow :turned:

My day depends on the weather if its nice i aint doing any work :punk:

 

i do computer builds/repairs/networks and have worked for myself for years now, so organise my time anyways if feel like :devil2:

get up at 7,

at work by 7:30

My day is pretty much the same as Hellraisers, exept I work all day on a Friday :sad: `no rest for the wicked`

i run a warehouse,,,when i say run i mean manage myself as im the only one here,,,,usually do 7 till 4,,,days are dependant on how many lorries come in,,

 

in all fairness i spend most of the day browsing the internet.....

My days differ like most folks, depends what the schedule plan is I may be busy carrying out isolations etc but if not its;

5.30 wake up downstairs at work for 6

6-7 countersign permits check emails etc.

7-meeting.

7.15-9 sampling and ensuring plant is operating.

9-9.30 break time with some random stuff the chef prepared.

9.30-12 ensure plant is smooth do any tasks or routines.

12-1 din dins

1-3 usual check plant carry out jobs.

3-3.30 break.

3.30-6.30 same with checking plants etc.

 

This differs sometimes there's nothing to do. Or if we shutdown and have to start back up im pritty much 6am -6.30pm with a 30min dinner break. Time is money.lol.

 

O and repeat the above steps for 14days + any extra days stuck out there.

It's horrible when its shutdown.lol, literally don't stop atall.

We are domestic central heating engineers and also run a service/breakdown dept.

 

We have been established for 42 years........and this day and age it doesn't count for nothing!!!

 

Customers are not worried about any thing other than a CHEAP job at the moment imho of course

7.30am Wake up

8:00 - breakfast

8.30- warm the Z up

8.45 - leave for work

9.00 - work starts

9.30 - 10.00 Sales meeting

10.30 - Smoke/Sign up motability customer for new Qashqai

11.00 - Check Motability online and my online diary

12.00 - Look for customers to pounce on

1.00pm - Sign up motability customer for new Qashqai

2.00 - Show customer around vehicle

3.00 - Drink hot choc

3.30 - Sign up motability customer for new Qashqai

4.00 - Update website/stock

4.30 - Sign up motability customer for new Qashqai

5.00 - Database prospecting

6.00 - Start checking if all vehicles on site are locked

6.15 - Warm Z up

6.30 - Go home

 

My shift pattern is currently 12 days then weekend off, so we do alot of hours.

 

I dont have a fixed routine and days vary alot so you can add handovers, courses, trips to motor shows etc you name it.

Depends on wear I am:

 

Germany

 

0500 - alarm off

0600 - on the road

0645 - open workshops for 0700 start

0700 - deliver briefing to crews

0730 - maintenance meeting

0900 - cuppa / 15 mins.

1200 - lunch / 45 mins.

1300 - another meeting

1530 - finished, off home

 

In between, finding time for safety inspections, quality inspections, and of course, the obligatory paper work.

 

Kuwait

 

0400 - alarm destroyed

0430 - on the road

0530 - queueing for installation access checks

0600 - draw HMMWV for the day, and brief.

1200 - lunch / 30 mins.

1830 - dump truck and head for the gate

1900 - just got through outbound security, braving Kuwaiti traffic

2030 - home, and looooooong shower

2300 - bed

 

Spending the days driving around an oversize parking lot in the desert, making sure the fleet is ready for issue. Some days busy, some manage to get a kip in the cab.

 

Every day is hot &dusty but to be honest, isn't exactly hard work.

 

I'm in Germany for the summer, so will be in a beer garden just in time for the office workers getting out in their skimpy wee outfits. WooHoo!!!!
