What an absolute biatch slap, fried frickin chicken, lumpy bumpy, sucky wucky, dog suck of a job. :sweatdrop:

It has taken me two days... yes two days to fabricate and fit one seat :w00t:.

You cant get frames for Recaros that fit the 300zx, so you have to buy universal Recaro frames and then use the supplied steel rods and hardened steel lengths to fit them. I could not in any way use the old 300 frames or runners as they lifted the seats up to high.

For two days I have been in the garage like a medieval blacksmith heating steel tougher than diamonds!. Then slowly beating it into shapes or around bars to fit the original mounting points. The stuff is so tough even an air saw takes 20 minutes to make each cut. I have burnt out a brand new electric drill drilling holes in it, and two £15 drill bits glowed red before they gave up the ghost . It reminds me of one of those old films where the earthings are trying to break into a UFO using drills tha break and primative tools.

I have been burnt, a red hot swarf splinter flew off and cut my hand. My knees are frickin killing me and im absolutely sick of the damn things. They are an absolute BIATCH to fit.

I have now fitted one seat and its taken me some 15 hrs to do!! OMFG I cant say im very much looking forward to dooing the other one next week. I guess the only saving grace is my cuts and burns will not be so painful by then.

I have to say though having a seat in it, it felt ace and at least I know they will never go anywhere as they are so strong.

Well done bud, what a nightmare! I bet they look good though, will be worth the hard work in the end, I`ve seen your seats and they are LUSH!!!

Nearly done then??

I got my Recaro's from JD, with 300 runners, bolt straight in. I know uni rails can be a nightmare tho. Well done matey.

Al.

my universal rails were a nightmare too! Lots of my welds on there to get it all to line up. Although the passenger seat does seem a touch closer to the door then the gearbox tunnel! Still works though :)

Took me a whole day to do both mine so i know what a pain it can be! Well done though :)

them rails are made from the same steel as bed iron for those who can remember...its a pig to drill and must be drlled really slow with oil;)

I used universal "low height" sliding rails for mine, then cut off the mounting feet from a stock z frame and welded them onto the universal frame. Sits noticably lower than the stock seats can go.
