I am lucky enough to have a spare VG30DETT in the garage, me and my mate were discussing sticking it in a classic car. I've got the engine crossmember, mounts, loom, ecu, etc etc, what would be a good car for it do you think?

I originally planned to keep it as a spare and get it uprated and rebuilt for mine, but I also like the idea of a one-off project car. Purely speculation at the mo, but open to any ideas flying around?

Why did I meet you for food last night! :taz:

Lol! It was a good threeway date ;) Well nothing wrong with the early micra would be a beast with a proper engine in it!

But yes perhaps not the best choice!!

They look utter shite though. Every Micra ever conceived just looked like a geriatric old pensioner mobile and don't give me any of this 'yeah, that's why it would be cool' nonsense as it's not. Micras look terrible, even when viewing early ones through retro eyes.

LOL @ retro eyes. You summed up my earlier point with a new term :)

Haha true true.

I do like that 260c coupe! How about an E34 5 Series, very elegant car and would certainly fit the sleeper look!

Dull though. Best off sticking with something Jap and retro....and not a Micra.

Mitsubishi Sapporo....or something of similar ilk if you're gonna swap manufacturers. Crazy rare though.

some of these cars are nice, but how much is it gonna cost to buy one of these rare cars and start chopping it up

still think a vauxhall carlton would scare the shite out of someone with a zed engine in it lol

not a massive fan of the carlton, and they are big and frumpy lol.

Hows about finding a knackered old widebody starion, and give it a new lease of life with a 3.0 TT? always wanted one.

Nissan Silvia 1.8 Turbo (s12)

loved these back in the day.

Used to have an insanely quick one of these before I got the Z. Weight only 874kg and 313Bhp with 356 ib/ft Torque!

Someone has already but a VG30DETT engine in an S12... Think there is a vid kicking around on youtube somewhere.

would be great in an old senator or carlton

Didn't they do a Carlton with a 3 litre engine anyway? Least the Senator definitely had a 3 litre.

Yeah a straight six 3.0l and the GSI3000.

But whats the point of putting a DETT in a carlton when Vauxhall and lotus made the Lotus Carlton?

Like the Starion idea :thumbup1:

because you can prob get a standard looking carlton for about £300 lol, leave it quite standard looking and also the lotus carlton isnt very reliable, this one would be

Stick with the Nissan theme I reckon.

If you're going down the Beemer/Vauxhall/old Ford route; there are plenty of engines that would be better transplanted into those cars. BMW has its superb V8; Vauxhall has the 3.0v6 and the 16v turbo; Ford its own (old shite)v6; but of course they have the Cossies (both Scorpio v6 and 4 pot turbo).....

But then I'd probably go Rover v8 into a classic Ford....

So, yes, I know Baz has a VG30deTT to make use of; so another Nissan all the way - keep with the heritage!

Otherwise how about a kit car - I reckon a ZX-TT powered Westfield would be awesome......

Richard:cool2:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

a VG in a westfield would take it from 700kg to about 1500kg LOL

unless I pitch in somewhere a bit newer - 200sx s13, sunny (pulsar) RNN14, etc? but would really like something a bit special so that would generally point at a classic model.
