A friend of mine spent a while fitting these to my car today, nice looking kit until you start to try and fit them so I thought I would share our experience through today.

First of all the braided lines only come with on grommet/fixing item on to secure them to the car, not a huge issue as we have sorted something similar using some inside out fuel line etc etc (Inspired piece of engineering!)

Secondly there is only adjustment in the kit, (via spacers/shims/washes) in one direction, sadly the 300zx brackets really need it in the alternative direction. The result of this is taht you end up with a caliper that doesnt sit in the correct position, the only solutions is to take meat out of the back of hub mounting holes to move the mounting bracket outwards (towards the wheel face) and so moves the calipers accross. What a real pain! Now the really bizzare thing is that one side required alot more messing with than the other (drivers side) Is there a different in the hubs? Or was there a difference in years? Were only talking 1 or 2 mm here but its enough to cause no end of grief when you have to trim the oem hub to suit!

You also have to remove the lug that supports the OEM hose bracket, not a huge issue again just no mention in the instructions!

Now, what i will say is wow they are good, even not bedded in and they are a huge improvement over stock, even with the D2 pads (that I was told were rubbish...) Glad i tried them as so far they are perfectly good enough for road, I can always get some different ones later on!)

Bleeding them was also very very easy, using a simple method mentioned by Znut some time ago, i suggested to my mechanic friend that we try bleeding htem up by just using gravity. He hadnt ever tried it, (since he has a vacuum bleeder in his own workshop, which was shut up for the weekend) so we both thought it would be a good idea to give it ago, and it worked very very well. In just a few minutes we had brake fluid coming through the bleed nipple (at the top of the caliper!!! :) ) and excellant pedal feel suprised at how little time it took and how well it worked. Previously used to having to pump and bleed which is alot more effort and takes alot longer!

Yeah does seem so! Im wondering if the kit I was sent was for something very similar to the 300zx... Im going to call the place on tuesday and ask what they think. Its not too much of a problem as they are on and work very well, just a bit disapointed in what appears to be a lack of attention to detail. Modification isnt somethnig I expect with a "Bolt on kit".

The bolts issue which i forgot to mention on this topic was fairly major though, as the bracket is bolted through the original caliper mounting holes which are quite thick, the supplied bolts simply were not long enough, once they were through the hub there was maybe 3 or 4 turns of thread to bolt into the bracket, didnt come even half way through the bracket. Luckily I managed to find some with the same thread pattern that were considerably longer so that did the job!

Rumour is that the ksport range has received additional development over the d2 brand, how true that is I don't know , but since you experienced a difference in figment per side it sounds like a quality control issue that's been talked about with these Chinese products before.

Ah that is interesting, I was of the impression that they were identical! Its not the calipers or the brackets that appeared to be different, we did check, it was the hubs on the car! So wether or not the car has had a new hub that is to different specifications to the original at some point Im not sure!

As I said, the calipers and brackets were all beautifully made (and as far as I could tell the exact same dimensions), its just the attention to detail (i.e bolt length) that let the kit down really.

As a heads up to people, if your going to do this allocate some time to it (at least a day!) and make sure youve got some way of making "adjustments" to the hub if required! :)

Sorry to bring up an old thread, hoping you'll come online and read this, but did you ever work out what the kit was from? I'm having a nightmare trying to source new pads and discs for it, as the 8 pot 300zx calipers were not available in 330mm so explains why they didn't fit, glad I found this thread, was thinking of replacing the whole kit but better not as I don't have spare hubs...

Well bugger me I'd forgotten it was that much effort but then it was 5 years ago!

Anyway the information I have is as follows (after a dig through my emails)

NISSAN 200SX R32 R33 300ZX D2 FRONT BIG BRAKE DISC KIT (was the title of the kit, I won it on ebay actually. at the time I think they were about 850, there was a new kit on ebay so I bid on it with a view of as long as it was less than 850 then I was quids in, in the end I got it for 650 IIRC)

It came from this ebay seller I think, http://www.ebay.in/usr/performance-motorsport-parts?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 Phone number was 08450 213334

Hope this is of some help, there was a few bits of leaflets and books in the history "back in the day" but what is still in there I don't know!

Thanks for letting me know, I managed to track some down actually arrived last night, about to fit them today ironically.

Hope they are right lol.

What have you done to my wheels?! ;) I can't just remember the colour code for it if you fancy getting them painted! I think it was toyota driftwood, there will be some threads about it!

Brake discs look good and new tyres always a sign a car is looked after.. Just out of interest, were the Falken 452's still on the front and some other Falkens on the rear? If so they've done really well!

I'd didn't damage the wheels , its done 150 miles since I've owned it lol. The rears are worse can see red paint through them,? We're they once red?

If you have the paint code would be helpful as I will have them refurbished once I have some more money...I like the colour if I couldn't match it, I was thinking of going with the darker bronze I used on my na's rotas

Think the fronts were falken rears weren't,

Fronts must have been from when I owned her then, but the rears would have done really well to last that time!.

Yeah they were black with a red rim in "drift yo" style

Ksport 8 pot in blue with 330mm disk and no need for adjustments, do you get brake squeal at low speed and is there any way of stopping it?
