What welder and accesories do I need?

Guys

I need to fabricate some bits to get my Recaros to fit into my Zed. I have the universal slider and fitting kit but its not even close. They supply them with a load of steel to help you fabricate something!.

Anyhows im going to need to do some welding can someone please let me know what I need to buy ie, what welder, wire mask etc. Im not looking for proffesional stuff just something easy to use and learn on.

thanks

I could do but I would rather buy one then if ever I need to use one I have one. Probably come in handy from time to time.

If your not experienced in welding I would leave it to a professional welder, if you were ever to have an accident seat mounts are the last thing you want breaking loose. Buy your welding machine and tack weld the mounts together but get a pro to do the welding.

Just thinking of your well being should the worst happen.

i would only do it if i could get good on test bits, I dont want to kill myself or damage £1400 front seats lol

if your gonna mig it then i would say get yourself some scrap steel, start with flat pieces and practice a few joints, but welds, seam welds and 90 degree angle pieces thats how i started when i learnt at college then progress up to tube, its pretty simple once you have got the grasp of things. if you make sure you get good penetration on the steel it should be pretty darn strong, i seem to remember that an inch of propely laid weld will hold 1.5 metric tonnes or summin silly like that. dont forget if your gonan go down teh mig route there will be splatter from the welding process so watch the upholstery man!not to mention its very hot! did anyone say fire?if you dont feel comfortabl eor competant theres loadsa guys out there that wanna make a few extra quid esp atm and will happily weld what you want toghter for not big bucks, if you really wanna learn local tech colleges run corses to learn to weld, you wont regret this as if your really into cars being able to weld really will make your life a dash easier
