I intend to get myself a Z in the very near future, i just thought that i could get a cosmetically challenged one (thats mechanically sound) and go nuts on it.

 

What do you guys think?

I couldn't give a flying **** how fast it is. I have no respect for something that looks fit for the scrap heap, fast or not fast....I get the rat look....I think it's bull shit.

 

I also don't race stuff off the lights....I don't race in general. So it'll never happen.

I'm cool. I just can not fathom what people find so appealing about a lump of shit that's fast. A nice car that's fast is more appealing. It's like wanting to watch Jo Brand do a porno film rather than Pamela Anderson.

 

For the 2 seconds that someone might loose a race against a rat look car and have your mates laugh at you, the rat look car has to spend a whole lot longer getting laughed and pointed at as it pootled back down the road bouncing on its silly suspension with its cable ties flapping in the wind.

 

As for the people that are trying to follow the trend.....jumping the bandwagon....you've already missed it.

I kinda get what's being said but I don't get why it should be a piece of crap to start. You gotta decide what you want out of a car IMO. As a sheeter (roofing) back in the day I used to drive a Corsair 2000E hand painted orange and dented every panel. It was a doddle to get through London rush hour! I also had a Bedford CF which i bought 6 months old and had a modified Rover V8 lump shoed in by a guy whose day job was stretching and converting luxury cars. The 'only' exterior change i made were the wheels and I can honestly say it was faster than most cars on the road at the time and the traffic light grand prix was hilarious. As for the zed I'm not sure it lends itself to any of this IMO. If I was to start again with the zed it would be a monster power and handling wise but kept bog standard bodywork. Preferably without any rust lol.

300ZXs are far too good to be subjected to such a tasteless style. Yes different is good, then there's taking it too far. Wearing your underpants on your head is different... doesn't mean you should go and do it.

 

That hella flush rubbish is also catching up. Having your wheels with 45 degrees of camber running a 205 tyre on a 11" wheel is also know as taking it too far.

after seeing the BMW, i have to agree with Si on this one. there really wasn't much thought put into the BMW, infant not much thought put into a lot of the Rat look cars, cept the wheels.

 

Putting a few dents here and there, and the rusty bonnet, is hardly making a statement. i can get the same look with out even trying, just by visiting a scrap yard for parts and panels. No effort involved from what i can see.

 

And as someone mentioned already. id rather my car not be anywhere near a Rat, and mine isn't even perfect. would rather not have car parts thrown at me as it shakes its self to bits accelerating. after all, if they dont care about the body work to the point it actually looks unsafe, whats to say the same care and attention hasn't been given to the rest of the car.

 

Its not narrow minded to view a Rat as a pile of crap, and its definitely not narrow minded to take pride in having a nice looking car. and although some will be arrogant about what car they own. you get that in all cars so that's a mute point.

 

Id rather have a nice shiny car that i know is safe to drive, rather than making it rust to the point its weakening the metal that's there to protect you in the event of an accident, or help protect pedestrians you might mow down.
