Feel it's time for a freshen up 'maybe'. I've been thinking over in my head what to do. Initially, bayside blue....always wanted that colour! BUT, I think I'd want to start again from scratch if doing that and whites are really in at the moment.

I should hopefully be getting a nice bonus toward the end of this year and due a payrise next month! So should have quite a bit more disposable income which I can throw at the Z.

Plans are as follows....some of it goes against what I've said in the past, but since I'm updating, I think it should work well.

For starters, the interior is staying untouched. Happy with that and will go well with the new paint. I want to get it done in either the new 370Z pearl white or the new Toyota pearl white which I recommended to Madmax....infact it'll be going to the same paintshop as the one he used. I've seen first hand the quality of finish on his Z32 and on his 911 and it's really top notch!

UK-spec blue tint window glass will follow with gloss black roof frames. A 99-spec front bumper with all the OEM grille and other fixings. Possibly 99-spec skirts that I can get through Z32-zone, maybe 99-spec headlights....

..and some 19" BBS LM wheels.

I'll probably leave the pin strip off as with the 99-skirts, they don't look right.

Its just pie in the sky stuff at the moment, but that's how I envisage it looking. Everything else will stay the same. Will just get new mouldings and seals etc. Mine are all in really good condition, but I want the 'as-new' look.

Sounds like a plan to me, 99 spec is definately the way forward with your car Si and i have to say bayside blue would look gorgeous on a 100% 99 spec zed :D

very nice plans indeed, nothing thats gonna be detrimental to the Z's looks - not that I expect it from you!! when you said it goes against what you've said in the past I expected to see a Failside front bumper

I`m Gobsmacked!!! FunkiSi is actually going to attach bits to his car!!! Side skirts!!

Well i think it will look awesome with those bits attached! The only upgrade I would think twice about is the colour. At the moment white is my favorite colour for a zed and the new mercs and bm`s but will it be timeless?? probably not! Bayside blue will be timeless as will silver, white could go out of fashion like car.mad Dave`s hair style, but I think you are the expert Si and whatever you do it will look Fab.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Narrr, I've always prefered the early TT front bumper to the 99-spec and strangely enough...still do. But I think with the updates, the 99 front will work better with the colour and modern touches I want to add.

Also, never been a fan of 99-spec skirts until recently. This has kinda persuaded my mind a little.

I don't think white has ever really been out of fashion, it's just become more popular. Colours like browns go in and out of fashion. Think they never should have been in fashion in the first place, but BMW, Peugeot and a few others now offer a metallic brown and it's awful. That will go out of fashion.

Pure white is kinda neutral, just in the same way as black is. Black never goes out of fashion. 5 years ago it was more 'in' though.

What about the indicator wing mirrors? I think they give a very modern look?

Looks good Si but there is one thing missing and it would enhance to overall look of your z enormously

Paint your B post white:lol:

Sod that. Why would I want to do that? The side window structure has a natural shape. Which is why I never understand why people put up chrome parts on it or painting it bodycolour messing up the shape. Eeeek! ;)

No. That looks dumb as well as it already has indicators in the wings! LOL

Other than the BBS wheels, it'll still retain a vastly OEM look.

I'd rather hammer nails through my scrotum than fit anything as horrific as a Veilside bumper! :hurl:

Thumbs up from me. Some of the new whites appearing these days on modern cars really do it for me. That rare late spec Titanium silver (above) is nice too, but go for the White.

Although im not sure about the skirts.....I would go Kaminari skirts instead. More Subtle..and well..nicer IMO

Im really not a fan of the 89-98 Stock bumper, looks old and really dates the car. The sleek modern 99-front is a great improvement, brings the car up to date, looks so much newer and more expensive.

Pinstripe looks bad with the 99front and skirts, mine is already off.

All sounds good! Although I wouldnt change the wheels you have, I think they look fantastic and 19's IMHO are just too big! I half think my 18's are on the large side, but then ive never been a fan of the pram look! The purple S reg car is a very lovely thing, I had a quick look at it a few weeks ago and its stunning, expensive but beauty often is!

That all depends on the style of the wheel and what car it's going on. For example. 19s on a SWB do look too large in the majority of cases. On a LWB, they look more in proportion. That said, some do not. Something like a dished BBS LM which has a graduated lip with a smaller centre *centre is probably about 17 - 18 inches in diameter* will always look smaller than a plain wheel with no dish and spokes that go right to the edge of the rim lip.

I believe that 19" BBS LM will look just right. Mine are 18 and could look slightly bigger and be able to get away with it.

Sell me. Your wheels si!lol

Pm me a rough price

If/as/when they do come up for sale, it's gonna be toward the end of the year. But can PM you a price if you like. They're not gonna be cheap. :)

Dont do it Si. Get another one and do that up. Seems a shame to do all that to an already decent motor

i like the ideas Si, looks like its going in the right direction tbh.

@ wing-mirror indicators, only if you remove the wing indicators and smooth the hole over and respray, other wise you have 6 turn signals at the front lol

Id go for a more subtle side skirt as well, the 99spec one seem more like a veilslide, but with out the strange shapes for the hell of it.

The wheels look nice, and don't have a big dish that seems to be all the rage on 300zx's. so you have my approval there matey.

Any exhaust changes in mind or are you sticking with whats on it.

And last, thanks for not going bayside blue lol ;)

Toyota pearl white which I recommended to Madmax....infact it'll be going to the same paintshop as the one he used. I've seen first hand the quality of finish on his Z32 and on his 911 and it's really top notch!

Si, Couldnt agree more, the white on max's is fantastic,

agree with 99 front end, bbs wheels and lights, paint the inserts same white!!

not sure about the skirts, my opinion do without the skirts and see what it goes like.

will be still fresh and lines will match

All sounds good. Personally I wouldn't bother with the 99spec lights but instead go with the gloss black/silver ring mod that prev been discussed. Looks stock but just gives them a subtle lift.

That was my thoughts aswell actually, get something a bit different, SWB or a Vert?

I really like your wheels Si, they are very tasteful. I thought long and hard about what colour to do mine as it was an engine out job I could have gone for any colour. What I love about the Lexus white is that it is a very sharp crisp colour that is not to OTT. Everything seems to go really well with it colour wise as well. Black/White/Chrome look awsome as the colours contrast really well. Also in my mind for some reason I think Nissans look great in white, like Porsches in Silver, Ferraris in red etc.

Wait and see what mine looks like fitted up and polished with all the black pipes and black interior etc.

Hey Si,

Other than leave it alone.......

......I would stick with the white - perhaps the Lexus pearl if you must change it; then go 99-spec front and BBS wheels. And that is all!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
