The front tension rod bushes on my zed are OK at the moment, but getting a little baggy. Its on my to do list shall we say. I believe that you can only buy the entire arm and not the bush from nissan at vast expensive so standard is out of the question.

So I have two options, either a complete new adjustable arm of which I have found thsi sort of thing:

Or I get aftermarket poly bushes and have them fitted into the rods.

Does anyone have any experience with either of the above?

Last time I did this i was lucky to get hold of some tension rods in like new condition with new bushes in allready so never ahd to go aftermarket!

IMO.... if you go for a/m adjustable tension rods, get a known make, no e-bay jobbies. I got AMS from Z1, which jimmer fitted. He said the quality is very good and a decent price too.

Al.

I got some like the pic above, powertrix ones and ended up having some welding done to the car (sorry don't know the name of the part they bolt to I forgot :blink:)

So the stiffer rods damaged the car? LOL Would i be better having the bushes in the old arms rather than the complete new arms.

what is it you have gibster-tt? What sort of money were you after?

Ive got a set that was supplied and fitted by Silver engineering when they fitted my coilovers. They have been on the car around 5 yrs but the car has done less than 3000 miles since. They are like new £50 delivered

I had standard arms with poly bushes on my last Z, and apparently there were installed wrongly, and they broke away from were they mount to the lower arm (the 2 bolts). I think your meant to fit and tighten them while the car is on its wheels and not in the air. So on my current Z i have the powertrix ajustable ones. The front is a solid bush rather that poly, so it rotates smoother and puts less stress on the tension rod/lower arm joint. Think the same fitting rules apply. Thats what ive gathered along my merry way and might all be wrong. But its working so far.

Cheers

If you do a search, there was a discussion that, if you replace the front upper arms with adjustable version you need to replace the tension rods with adjustable. if you poly bush, they are too stiff and will tear the hole open on the lower arms. A big no no, and serious suspension trouble. Do not poly bush the tension rods.

Kev

why not go for a Driftworks combo, tension rods, camber arms front and rear they do a great deal... hmmm shouldnt really be telling you this as too many zeds will be fitted with these soon and mine wont be unique anymore :(

I doubt it very much :D

Poly bush is OK imho with the correct elasticity of poly. Had Superflex in mine 7 years plus and no issues and I have always been checking the main lower arms due to the previous posts about cracking. Handling is good too.

dont get those tension rods from ebay i had them on mine after about 3 month they looked like they had been on the car for 10 years the factory parts of the car looked in better shape than them then i went over a speed bump and the passenger side one snapped luckily i wasnt going fast i posted up some pics of them il try find my post

dont get those tension rods from ebay ................

Exactly - cheap and nasty!

2 options;

1 = cheapest is the poly bush route. MJP can supply them or JeffTT does a supply & fit for £130 plus VAT.

2 = buy these from Luke: http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_28_58&products_id=473

I had them fitted to my red ZX and they were fine.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
