Thought I would get a quote for car insurance from adrain flux yesterday. Would you believe the quote is £5115.72 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im 24 (25 in 4months) with 2 years ncb which is on my bmw and a clean license. Obviously its a second car and minimum miles and a low evaluation. Now I know im young and its an import but my insurance renewal was £950 when I took the car off the road in august 09.

Any reason for this high price?

Are there any recomended places to try?

True :) Im in a state off panic at the moment though lol!

Will give Endsleigh and carol nash a go

cheers

You probably need to ask for a Classic policy if the car is not being used much.

I think I asked for classic car before but got a no because of my age. I remember one guy told me my car isn't a classic and only english cars like MG etc are classics lol!

Is there an age restriction for classic car policy?

i believe its 30 but i stand to be corrected

mate thats not right, i had a toyota supra turbo from the age of 21, 800 quid at first then 400 as the years went on. That was with Adrian Flux also.

Try Lynbrook - 31 with clean licence and i got a classic policy as it was my second car and limited to 8000 miles a year = £226 - Adrian Flux were way out of the ball park for me too.

Try Admiral, I'm 21 (was 20 when I took out the policy) and they insured me for £1300, all mods declared, fully comp etc...

Yup can't beat them, that's who I insured the zed with and am still insured with them on a multicar policy very cheap and I'm only 23!

how odd im 24 with flux, all mods declaired £500 ???

Lynbrook will not touch you because of your age, a rang loads up last week and they all said no or well over 1K

Yeah flux gave me a good price where others where way out, only mods though are wheels listed (despite not yet being fitted) and the apexi cone

Chris

my other half tried to get insurance with adrian flux for her del sol and they quoted just over 2k but she insured it with bell for 750 and mines with bell for 340

I'm with flux on what they call a cherished car policy. Much like any insurance company they pluck numbers from a hat and generally Try and take the piss but after arguing for a bit I got my import slicktop tt insured for 700, limited 5k miles but I am only 23 with 4 years ncb. Only problem with the cherished policy is that you apparently don't earn no claims (yet they affect the policy price- weird!) now they didn't tell me this last year when I had the m3 so I told em and they awarded me the year they robbed me so i'm kinda stuck with em unless I can find a place that will insure it at a sesible price next year which does give me my ncb. Anyway ring round and do what u can but flux should do it on a cherished policy!

Well I rang a few yesterday and basically nearly all of them said no. Basically my age was the problem like someone said earlier. So my problem is this,

Do I insure the zed and enjoy the next few months but it costs me to much? Or wait till july and then insure it when im 25 and hopefully be cheaper? But I will probably miss summer this way as its normally nice between may and july. Thats summer lol! Also if I wait till july that means I haven't driven my car for 11 months which is killing me :headvswal

I have few to ring yet but my best so far is the intial £950 renewal I had in august. If I ring them and they tell me its gone up

Cheers for the numbers

try Admiral, me and my misses got a multicar policy and it saved me nearly £1500:shock: iv got No NCB though and also with some insurance companys if you have a criminal record it goes sky high.

im 23 and pay approx 600 a year for trade insurance, i have 1 ncb, 8 points and a previous 2 ban's.

im with DNA insurance..

its great because its peace of mind, dont matter what car you jump in, your covered.

I know one in a few thousand get good quotes off Flux but I hate them with a passion. It's not that I've had a specific terrible experience with them but combined with the ever ridiculous quotes they provide and the pants customer service...I just loathe them.

I'd much rather call 100 other insurance companies before ringing Flux...just IMO of course...

unfortunately i agree. flux quoted me almost 2k. age 31, 2 years NCB, clean licence, garaged, thats the 3 quote from then, and its never been below 1.5k so far, even for simple cars like 1.9lt TD xantia sx, and my pug 406 2.0l turbo exec. again well over 1.5k ???

Lynbrook was my cheapest with Classic car, @£300 a year fully comp.

And asda car insurance, lol £4768 for the year.

When my car insurance comes up for renewal might ring carol nash and see what they can offer, i love lynbrook though cant fault them so far.

It should also help with how long you have had the car. due to it not being a fleeting fancy.
