Fitted these today, 100% sure its all fitted correctly, tho went out a nice long drive to warm the car up then went on boost.

No noise what-so-ever.:surrender:

Anything stupid i might have done? e-mailed z1 about it and they just described how to install it which i already did the way they have said. And the chap then said he cant think on why it wouldnt make a noise. These are brand new never touched until today when i fitted them........

I bought the Z1 RFL BOV and I had the same problem, I installed them and at 11 PSI don´t PPSSS......!!!

You have to make the following:

You have to open the valves and put off the washer, and you have to send an EMAIL to Z1 to ask for a soft springs...

Z1 have got back to me but haven't been very helpful.lol.

Thanks for that mate I will send an email to them.

do they replace the standard recircs craig?

Yes they do mate. looks like the spring must be set to hard. Is it possible to use a softer spring found in a hardware store or some kind of shop?

this one:

But, I don´t know if they are compatible with our Bov

You have a pm mate.

Did z1 send u a soft spring, change that out and it worked fine?

If I can't find the correct spring ill just order it, going to take it apart tomorrow at somepoint see if there's any ovious faults

Wind them out so they are still closed at idle and spray some WD 40 on to the cylinder.Remove any spring tensioner washers inside and see if that works Bud.If all else fails cut a coil off the spring. But you should not have to do that. You have put the vac pipes on have'nt you ? and bunged up the other two pipe holes.

They still have all the fresh grease from z1 still on them. I will open it up today, check the tension and see if I 'an move it with my hand gently, if not ill snip one coil from it and try moving it again.

im not being funny but i wouldnt be opening it up. If you bought them as atmospheric dump valves, they should vent. If they dont, send them back since they arent doing the function they're designed to do.

I had the same when i bought rfl ebay jobbys, didnt realy whoosh at first then after a while the spring gets a bit more used and not as tight then they slowley starting working properly, i dont know how well they are still working as i sold the car to LeoE

Dude, just rip the ruddy things off and stop trying to get a pointless product to work! You do know that fitting DVs doesn't help performance in any way shape or form and in some cases is detrimental.

Who cares! They sound so good!!

They sound fantastic tho.

I know they dont help in anyway apart from make me smile.lol!

Tho its not proved that the harm the car or make it better i believe, theres to many mixed reviews about them all.

bee gee is right, if the spring is compressed with a number of washers then take some of the washers out to relieve the pressure off the spring.

Return it.

was along time ago i purchased them, when i had orginally bought the black and white zed. So they have been sitting in the box for months.

not impressed with how z1 dont seem to want to send me some softer spring and just want me to open the valve up see how it goes.lol.

Who cares! They sound so good!!

They sound stupid. Willy waving mod. "look at me, I got a turrrrbo".

You'd rather have something on your car that sounded like the airbrakes on a Scania Truck than benefit from better performance? Jesus wept!

Their noise is subjective. Personally think they sound stupid, like the air brakes on a Scania truck. As to their purpose. They don't really have one other than make the noise like the airbrakes on a Scania truck.

When using dump valves, the air is released into the atmosphere and this means that the space between the turbo compressor and the throttle bodies has to be regained and this causes a noticeable delay in boost pressure.

Also, the ECU is programmed to expect the unused air to be recirculated back into the intake and if it doesn't arrive, then there is a momentary 'rich' running and this can cause hesitation.

There is definately no performance gain from fitting dump valves. Infact the opposite.

They only really offer a viable alternative if you're running aftermarket engine management.
