Well after painting my spare wing in olive drab, I'd noticed a few things has slightly touched it whilst it was in the garage, and had marked it badly, so that was out the window.

The original red paint was multicoloured and was beyond polishing in some areas so I decided ages ago to change it.

I chose a simple colour, and thought I'd start by painting up the spare JDM spec rear bumper I had to replace the damaged UK one on the car. At this stage I just cant afford a bodyshop respray so here goes lol...

Good old trusty Simoniz white gloss... with hellfrauds lacquer :whistling: its gonna be a couple of months until its all ready as theres some bodywork issues to get repaired but for now its a start. I'm not expecting perfection but I'll take as long as I can with it for a good job. Happy with the results on the bumper, just need new pinstriping

pics so far - bumper just 'trial fitted'

Bayside blue is probably the nicest colour for the Z32. If you do go that route, then make sure you get rid of the JDM bronze tint glass and get yourself some UK glass. Will make the whole lot work a lot better.

When eventually I get mine repainted in the new 370Z pearl white, I'll be swapping out all the glass. I'd go for Bayside Blue if I was doing a bareshell repaint.

As for the code, bayside blue is TV2 I think.

Oooh sweet thanks for that Si. by the way, i have blue tint glass, didnt you see my new motor?

A UK car! Nice one! :)

Christ the paint is flat on that bonnet! Bet you can't wait to have it painted. You don't even need to drop the engine as black engine bays look fine. Great base car!

lol it used to be silver, who ever sprayed it used a yellow primer ? and there is no lacquer on it. but a good place to start from. oooh and its a TT feck yeah. its 20 years old, but going to go for a full revamp. first up turbos sorting out.

I must state, I Believe the engine bay to be black as well. but it might just be dirt yet. a good solid clean is going to reveal all.

Something wrong there then. Silver was not offered as an option on UK cars....unless it's had more than 1 respray in its life.

I like white too :)

Black is the other colour i like to see these cars in followed closely by red (if its vibrant enough)

Really good job with the finish. White is the easiest colour to paint a car in DIY style. (Black is the hardest)

Just out of interest, what would a complete respray cost. What have you paid, and was it anything special.

How long is a ball of string? Depends on where you take it, what quality of repaint your after and what type of repaint you need. There is a simply monumental variance.

I was looking to get mine resprayed.

Same colour as it is now, (Midnight purple) just needs freshening up with a few dings pulled and the front bumper needs filling on the lip

Give it a T-Cut, wax and polish first, might save you a bit of cash on the respray.

I want a respray, as mine was silver to start with, then sprayed black and the finish isnt that good tbh.

T-Cut etc won't be enough. Whoever had it before me didnt apply base coat properly to the bumper, and its peeling quite bad, the bonnet has a blister the size of a fist with for want of a better word little "nipples all over, plus in various places the bodywork has got a few brush strokes where they've covered a few scratches, as well as the front bumper being pitted, and needing some filling doing.

doesnt give you that "finished article" feeling when you look at it closely. If you know what i mean!!

There's still a huge difference. You need to take it to a recommended garage and let them quote.

You could be paying 300 quid from a crappyback street garage. Muppet motors won't do the best job by far, but they'll get the paint on...as well as dust and silica particls! But you could spend thousands and thousands getting a high quality blow over and even more for engine/windows out jobbie.

Thought about putting the original bonnet back on?
