I'm looking for suggestions for replacements for my front brakes, currently running standard Brembo discs and mintex 1144 pads but these have now expired. I'm not looking for a big brake upgrade as my pockets are not that deep (I had considered selling the car until very recently) and I have had a look at what Dan sells as I trust him.

The car doesn't have a lot of use, maybe 3000 miles a year max but I have the chance of doing a trackday next month so would like something that would survive a day (ish) of abuse. being a track day virgin I doubt very much whether I would be pushing it that hard anyway.

Your thoughts please.

Al,

Ferodo DS2500 pads are good pads for use on a track but beware that due to their extremely agressive and hard compound they WILL eat through your discs in no time at all.

I'm out of stock of Porterfields at the moment (new stock due in a few weeks) as I would recommend them for "fast road" and occassional track use.

I can also recommend Stillen brake pads (made by Mintex specifically to Stillen's specifications). Excellent for daily use and good on the track. £85.00 (front) plus £7.00 delivery and available from UK stock.

Edit to add: For fast road and track use I would recommend the DBA 4000-series discs. These are direct replacements for stock TT discs and are grooved for additional heat and gas extrusion. Internally vented design. Will take occassional track "abuse" without warping so long as proper cool-down protocol is used following the track session. Cost is £296.00 per pair plus £17.00 shipping (they're heavy buggers!)

Please let me know if I can help source anything for you.

Regards,

Cheers for the info. Deffo won't be going for the DS2500's as I don't want to destroy my discs instantly even though I know they are very good. I've had porterfields before and was quite happy with them, maybe the stillens could be worth a bash. The discs are a deffinate stumbling block though as the combo is gonna cost me over £400 and that won't leave me enough in the pot to get my front tyres sorted (which I will need for the track as I've got new toyos on the rear and kumhos on the front).

What to do, what to do?

Am also looking for some new discs/pads, how did you find the brembos/mintex combo? I'm just looking for normal road use with abit of spirited driving here and there.

Another Pad of worthy mention is the Hawk HPS, seems to be the most popular option in the U.S. Had them on my NA and was happy with them.

£99 delivered for these but only in fronts. The mintex are around £30 for fronts. Ideally i'd just want something close to stock performance but without the stock Nissan prices.

My current setup is almost dead, and quite spongy, brake fluid definately needs changing too.
