bottom end shills, bearings on the way out, carry on reving it like that and you could end up with a nice hole in the oil sump, like when i put two conrods (thought it was one but after taking the sump off it was two lol) through it.

You might get away with a engine rebuild at the moment. id assess the costs of a TT conversion / engine rebuild.

and if your wondering what damage can be done when it finally goes......

(this is with the oil filter braket removed) Two very nice holes, one a puncture the other a blow out.

My other photos that im yet to upload show how its cracked the block in two places. and completely shattered the lower crank housing.

Out of all the VG's I've seen that have shot a rod out the side of the block (and that's quite a few) ......most of them were NA's.

I believe the NA gets abused more than the TT engine, becuase you need to really rev them a lot more to get the best out of them.

Are the internals also slightly weaker on the N/A? well thats what i was basically told when i inquired about slapping some tubs on a N/A engine.

oh god, im gonna have to get a TT engine........ some one point me in the direction of a conversion thread please...... :(

Right lets not start ghost stories, the VG engine is actually very reliable, its a everyday sports car. if you want it for track use then you upgrade the internals to higher rate ones. id like to see most cars engines after being thrashed around a lot like most of the 300zx N/A's have been.

Reason these tend to fail is due to the price to acquire a N/A vs its Speed and ease of insurance on them now. most people will get the car and rag the ass off it due to it being classed as a sports car / cheap to buy and it looks the part. and the mentality of most people to show off around town to that little guy in his done up fiesta who thinks hes a badboy. (i most likely will fall into the latter category lol)

thus when you get your car your never too sure what its past has been really like unless it comes preloaded with the engine upgrades and is spanking like it just rolled out of J1mmys home garage. Don't be put off by a N/A a good engine rebuild and careful driving with out red lining it in every gear, will see you though to around to the next service easy. :D

Ring Zedworld for a quote on engine rebuilds if he does them (not sure he does check his website first, or though he might know someone who does)

If you're interested i have a u.k twin turbo engine with 60 k and brand new timing belt, intercoolers in very good condition for £550

yea, your right, ah christ, VG's's are basically C18det's aret they?, same era, same linage with 2 more cylinders? bottom end like a chocolate block and dieing in there millions..... the lowest bidder that built them must'v been the same as the c18det's - should'v known, i need an sr20det or an rb26 or something reliable, all i hear on this forum is is engine problems, i was attempting to prove people wrong by turning it into a nos injected drift car to be different! if i put an old tt lump in there id be no better off, i might as well put an 13Bturbo engine in instead for reliability lol!!! i look at my mates with ps13's, silvia's, 200's 240's and 180's they all share the same engine (converted in most cases), all hammer shit out of it, and they all last, never miss a beat, fast, light weight, reliable - drifting round trafford park again never looked so far away!! especially after being off the road for a year last time!!! fffffffs im pissed off!!!!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, your 3 and a half hours away from me, i have a van......... are jap engines better than uk engines? what problems would i come up against with it being a uk engine?

im not sure if they are better tbh but i've had this engine for two years and its never failed me,the last owner bought it for 1500 a few years ago i think ive got that receipt somewhere too (not sure) im only selling it because the jap engine ive got has forged rods, pistons etc

i cant call at the mo, iv taken your number down ill give you a call tonight or maybe tomorrow if it gets to late, can i use my old gearbox? or do i need a new one? of ffs i just fitted a brand new exeedy clutch too!!!ffs

you can use the same gearbox its not a problem and give me a call whenever you want mate

bottom ends arent too bad on zeds, much better than the ca18. you may think the sr20's are bulletproof but they arent as the bottom end went in my sons s14. all are equal to be honest, apart from the ca18 as the bottom end is made from cheese
