One our Team leaders within our company phoned up to tell us that he stopped to get a paper this morning, leaving the keys in his car and the engine running he come out of the shop to find his car was being drove off and he flung himself on the bonnet only to find himself at the edge of the road with a badly bruised back. SILLY T***.

Insurance won't pay out because he had his engine running, The most expensive paper he has ever bought.

I think your mate is the stupid one leaving the keys in his car in the first place...asking for it ...doh

Even if you leave your car started you should not be mugged! Those car thieves should be hanged! imo

he wasnt mugged, the car was taken while he was in the shop, i know they shouldnt have done it, but to give them aninvitation like that is just plain stupid

lol, what a twat.

Leaving your car started in the world we live in...........just asking for it!

For the 2 seconds it would have taken him to remove the key.

Lol oh dear. What car was it? To be fair it was a pretty foolish thing to do! Unless you have run lock on your car, or a turbo timer. I used to use mine on my oldzed when t was cold and I was nipping to the cash point!

I often worry about mine when I jump out and the turbo timer is still running down if some one jumped in they would get about 30 seconds up the road lol then I would have them:2guns:

If your turbo timer is wired up wrong then maybe so gazza... :hang:

should be wired to the handbrake switch, so once the handbrake is released the engine cuts out. Unless they try and drive off with the handbrake on

To be honest I never put the handbrake on just put it in park but you could be right in saying the timer is not wired to the hadbrake will have to check that one out

Ah good point lol of course I still took the key with me when I left it on t timer, mine wasn't wired so great, you could drive it with no key lol but the steering lock became an issue! You could just put the key back into it and turn it to the correct position and turn the t timer of, worked a charm! Lol

The car was a 59 plate Vauxhall 4x4 he got it before xmas cost over 26,500 grand!!!!

I would not like to be him when he goes home and tells his wife what he had just done?

I would be divorced!!!!!!!!!!!! What a knob!!!!!!!!!!

why do people do this, stupid if you ask me

Yup - I agree with Allan......

......I remember back in 1990 when my then employer did the tax return for one of the directors of a large national construction company. This guy was pretty wealthy, being the son of the founding director.

Anyway, he bought himself a nice new Merc 500SL, and during his first stop to refuel (in a not too nice part of London), he left the keys in the ignition......

.....you can guess the rest; and of course the insurance company refused to pay out. That was a £60k mistake.......:asshole:

Richard:clown:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

26,500 grand!!!!

£26.5million? Wow, that was even more stupid than leaving the keys in the ignition with the engine running. :wack:

I just LOL'd

At least he might get a rebate back on his insurance if he paid the full year up in advance.

LOL!!

Surely you'd just tell them it was nicked, why would you tell them you left the keys in? (Obviously a total school boy error in the first place)

Have the police been able to do anything-it's obviously a spontaneous crime rather than stolen to order so I doubt the thieves have the know how to get rid of it effectively. Someone probably just drove it home to safe bus fare.
