Guys, I would really appreciate your help as techical questions come up doing our build. A lot of the parts we are fitting dont have instructions and we are fitting them to other aftermarket parts making things even more complicated.

We would really appreciate getting any help or support with questions listed here .

Questions

1. There is a bolt hole that appears to be threaded next to the right hand front water pipe on the engine. Does anything go in this hole? if so what?

2. What the frack are the clips from Nissan that came with all my bits, they can be seen in the bag here and where do they go?

3. With the Tein monoflex suspension with EDFC there is a thread on the top of the shocks and a thread inside the electrical box that goes on them. There is a small thing that should do the adjustment but when you plug them onto the top of the shock there is a gap of about 2cm so you cant screw the box onto the shock. Is there something missing? or what do you do?

How can you test a fuel pressure regulator works?. I can blow freely through one of mine in all directions, the other one you can only blow throw it one way.. is this correct?

I had them chromed so want to make sure they do still work!

thanks

Guys a few questions today on brake and clutch master cylinder repairs.

As you can see by the pictures my Zed has been leaking brake and clutch fluid for quite some time. The leaking fluid had previously ruined all the paint so I want to make sure it does not happen again.

Questions

1. Can I repair the brake master cylinder with it still in the car? it seems to be leaking from the joint between both pieces under the bonnet. Or do I have to remove the whole thing to repair it?.

2. There are several different types of repair kits on ebay, is there any way of identifying the correct one for me to buy looking at the pictures?.

3. The clutch cylinder has also been leaking for ages where it goes through the bulkhead, is it possible to also buy a repair kit for this? if so where?

4. Can this be done in the car or will it involve removing the clutch assembly from the other side of the bulkhead?

Thanks

Just get new ones Martin. They are not expensive. But if you wish put a kit in the clutch master but not the brake one,i wouldnt risk it with a car of that performace.

Yep!

Wot he said!

FFS you are building a 500bhp super car. no one in their right mind would re use a 20 year old leaky brake master cylinder:blink:

Thats why I ask the questions, ok what bits do i need?

Do I need the big black cylinder and a new master cylinder or just the master cylinder?

Same question with the clutch, do I need the bit inside the bulkhead as well?

Best place to get them?

thanks

Edited by madmax

The big black cylinder is the brake booster or servo. They seldom go wrong so should only be replaced if they wont hold the stored vacuum pressure.MJP on here can sort the cylinders for you.

Thanks for that, I hate asking millions of questions but I would be really lost without the help and support of people here as I have never done anything like this before.

But what makes you different is that you read the answers and take the advice.:cool3:

Anyway just follow Jimmers advice on the bits to buy. Ie one new brake master cylinder, one new clutch master cylinder. And get a new clutch slave cylinder too. (thats the bit that bolts to the gearbox)

Thanks guys, I just posted for him to price a load of stuff up for me, including the clutch slave cylinder .

Question 4 what holds this timing sensor on? I suspect that it was some kind of bracket that either went off to be polished or chromed that never returned!!

yes - there is a big fat bracket - looks like this (but not shiny: Maybe)

A few more questions today guys :sorcerer:

1. I have done a water bypass can you please have a look at the pipes and let me know if they look ok. The pipe that goes to the left tub looks tight because it goes behind another pipe I just put the plenham on for the pictures so it goes over the top.

2. On the underneath of the throttle bodies there are two small bits poking out for vacum hose. Where do these go to?

3. On the fuel rail there are the two main pipes for the fuel system, where does the third smaller one go to just on the bottom right?.

4. We are putting in the EFI harness next week, it looks to be really tight even with the engine out is there a fitting guide anywhere? or do you have to take the dash out?.

5. Does everything else look ok so far?

I know there are jubilee clips etc missing it will not be finnished and bolted together until I get my new cams and pulleys etc.

Getting there but its quite a big job so far as there were loads of blanked vacum hoses and with all the new parts and further deletes I dont want to miss anything.

Thanks

What on earth is an oil catch tank? have I missed it or did it not have one to start with?

stops the crap in your oil getting into the engine like a carbon filter thing I think could be wrong.

Look at my bolts. If you like I have some left.
