hello people im new to the 300zx ownership and had a bit of a bad start, iv brought a uk spec tt with manual conversion done and alwas well for a few days untill engine started to knock witch turned out to be bottem end so done and engine swap (found a low miliage lump for 600).when we done the engine swap we noticed that the clutch was on it way out so we thought it was ok when we took it out so itll be ok for alittle longer untill we took it out for its first drive. when on boost or changing gears fast it would grind like the clutch was not fully engaged but if you change gears slowly its fine. so i thought i would just bite the bullet and put a new clutch in as iv done today, but went to drive it home and low and behold the same problem. has anyone got any ideas as to would could be doing this, slow slave cylinder, air in the system or clutch adjustment as its racking my brain now

Change oil in g/box, can make syncro a bit slow when cold and check clutch adjustment/ fluid level, could be leaking slave cylinder.

changed the box oil today and bled the system, the oil that came out of the slave cylinder was like water so maby its boiling the oil as on the drive home it started agen, has anyone got any other idea's or things to try, not been the best start to z ownership =[

forgive me if i sound like i'm being patronising, but did you change the oil in the clutch system, as well as the gearbox oil? The clutch system oil is not related to the gearbox oil.... again, sorry if you knew that, but it's easy to make these mistakes!

Clutch pedal adjustment may be necessary, there are threads on here about it.

the only one way i have of discribing it is if you put your foot on the clutch and rev it when its not in gear dose the same thing, i dont no if that helps anyone but its realy starting to bug me. tonight we tryed using race clutch and brake fluid so i has i higher boiling temp but still the same problem. so sofar its had new clutch friction plate pressure plate and release bearing, gear box oil and clutch bleed afew times is there anything im missing?

Hmmmmm, so the clutch is slipping badly? If that is the case, could be the oil seal on the end of the gearbox leaking? Allowing gearbox oil on to the clutch.... Just a thought, i've got a punto at the mo with similar problems, exept it's the main bearing that has failed, so new box....

or maybe the crank oil seal leaking too.... have you removed the starter and tried to have a look inside the bell housing, to see if there is any oil on the clutch? not much access, but you might see something.... HTH

just read your first post properly, maybe pedal adjustment if the other things i said don't apply, the slave cylinder or master isn't leaking is it? or any pipe work?....

was the spigot bearing ok, in the new engine,

sorry didnt read your thread properly,

sounds more like syncros,

or cylinders not pushing out far enough,

where did you bleed the clutch from,

theirs a nipple on the slave cylinder, and maybe in the engine bay [manual conv] may not have it,

have you tried pumping clutch with someone looking at cylinder see if its pushing out properly,
