Well, after months of indecision my work is closing down.

4 factories + ours is the best performing + most profitable, but under invested in.So its closing . :xxx: :hammer:

I can't honestly see if its a disaster or a great oppurtunity( i wont walk away with much ) to do something else, or do something for myself .

So how has it worked for you?

Lifes been a who lot harder. Spent 2 months out of work after being made redundant then got a job that lasted 3 months and was made redundant again.

Then was out of work for five months and this took a HUGE strain on the money I had saved up, had to sell the Zed and lots of other stuff to get by :(

Now working but only a contract that ends friday next week.

Just about got myself straight again with money and no idea how long it will take to find another job. Problem I have this time is I have no savings behind me any more and nothing to sell as that all got spend with seven moths out of work last year.

Not currently redundant....but have been redundant twice in 20 years....always found another job straight away,,and always better paid each time,,,,

good luck in your search..

think thats the key, if you have savings to fall back on for 6 months then there will be always something that turns up in that time(hopefully), without savings you will struggle, however i still think there are lots of jobs out there if you look in the correct places and swallow your pride, my little bro has just lost his job/left work in the construction industry due to work being on and off, just got a job full time and perm doing care work, will prob pull 900 after tax PM, enough to get by until things pick up again.

So far so good for me!!

I got made redundant August 2008 after serving 8 years as a Site manager( contracts manager) with a family run awesome company, good pay, great holidays and great people around me, It was the last thing they wanted but the RBS pulled the plug on our projects and within 4 months the whole multi million pound company was gone!!!!Unbelivable, I thought the world had ended, sell my house?, and my zeds!!!!!

BUT!! 2 Months later my mate and I set up a joinery company and never looked back since!!! We have loads of work ahead of us and have never had a day off work through the whole time, only for holidays which i though i would never have again!!!

So things have certainaly not really changed for me, I feel fitter as i now have to work for a living and not sit in an office full of health and safety manuals, the money is about the same, apart from paying my own tax now! not paye anymore! and I`m a lot less stressed not looking after big projects!!

So keep your chin up mate, something will turn up(normally for the better), and remember! your not the only one who is struggling or worried about the economy at the moment, there are a lot of people a lot worse off than us!!!!

Daz.

It was the worst thing to happen to me at the time but now I am so glad I didn't take a paycut and stay! Still working in construction but for a smaller company yet higher up the tree, more money with the only downside being not as posh a company car! These things happen for a reason and I am positive something good will out of it as long as you keep your head up. Good luck

I was made redundant in march last year, took me just over 6 months to find a new job. Money for me and the missus was a mega strugle :( My new job is great, i love it :) its more in the direction i want to go and its much better pay too

I was made redundant end of July and have still not found a job...funds are seriously strained but I will NOT consider selling the Zed...lol. I'd rather rent it out to local school kids to take pics with than sell it...hopefully something will come up soon!

I've been pretty much un-effected by this economic downturn.

Cannae really imagine what all you guys are going through but i hope everything takes a turn for the better.....AND SOON! I couldn't stand to see Sumshiftyguy whoring out his zed to the local neds
