recirc/bov/bungs sizes needed please :D who knows?

I need the OD size of the top pipe where the bung should go when fitting bov's in place of the recirc valves, obviously i want to buy a rubber bung to fit over the top of it. Yes i cant be bothered to measure it myself.. too cold....

I also need the OD size of the lower rubber pipe that comes from the intercooler pipe that goes onto the bottom of the stock recirc. not the actual metal pipe size as im reusing the stock rubber hose....

Thanks guys.

heres a question, if the hose from the ebc to the plenum is too small would it be unable to send a correct pressure reading to set the boost high enough? do small pipes have a max psi... think this could be the problem as my hose inside the car is tiny.

You lot are useless lol,

Ok the bottom piping is 34-35mm

The top piping which needs to be bunged up is 28mm so you could use a 30mm bung and bung it over the outside of the metal ic pipe or use a 28mm bung and bung it inside the stock rubber hose and clamp it up choice is yours.

Well anyway today i did a number of tests to figure out why i can only boost to 17psi. Im still baffed.....

I did however try a number of things with the ebc with no success however i can say the ebc is working correctly and its something else apart from the piping and ebc. The ebc set to 0% will boost me at 10-11 psi now with it at 100% it will only boost me to 17psi....

I ran the car with the actuator pipes disconnected and the other end blocked up to see how much boost i could push with the actuators fully shut, still only 17psi this now points me towards either the recircs letting pressure out or a boost leak, ive done a number or boost leaks and there are none, i may have to test at 17 psi to see what happens.

I have now removed the recircs and im going to install Some bov's to see if these are the problem....

Anyone have any ideas?

dont fall into my trap Jimmy...i done my boost leak test and it showed fine up untill i started pushing 11-12 psi in it and my compresser volume maxed out then hisssssssssss the pipe union on top of turbo pissin out because of loose clips but my point is it did not hiss till i upped the psi..now i get a steady 15-16 as promised by my boost tips:D

check the intercoolers too dude - can often be the cause of a leak, but then cracks in an IC usually wouldnt allow you to boost up to 17psi, maybe you are maxing their capacity at that... lol why do you want more than 17psi anyway :p

oh and many thanks for those sizes Jimmy!!

no problem mate,

after extensive research and continuous forum/reading, searching i have come to the conclusion that z32 stock recircs are sh1t..... mainly due to their age and design....

Once again im thinking about doing something different, ive decided to plumb in one BOV between the stock recirc location, ive had to buy some extra pipework which i will be joining both sides of the stock resirc position and T'ing it off with a BOV, I managed to source a dual piston Bailey's BOV for £35 this should also give me extra balance within the pressure system if i decided to go with the dual intake system, this should hopefully rid of my boosting restricting problems.

I may actually fit an extra Baileys bov inline with the other just to be sure im dumping a safe amount of used pressure to atmosphere.

Im aware of the over fueling probs bov's have with air flow meters due to dumping to atmosphere instead of back into the intake side of the system which can make things a little lumpy coming off boost but hopefully John Dixon can sort out these problems when its remapped.

Does anyone know if i can T off the two 4mm hoses and fit it ontop of the BOV? btw they are the hoses that used to fit at the tops of the recircs

If you leave your Recircs in with no vaccum hose ontop then they wont function.. It's the vaccum created by these that helps them function correctly im pretty sure. to be honest you're aswell of just installing the BOV's and ridding the recircs entirely if running atmos BOV's. If not, get some uprated recircs to fit in the stock location.

I am ridding of the stock recircs completely and fitting inplace one bov between the two with a balance bar T'ed off in the middle. ;)

Jimmy, this sounds interesting, can ya take some piccies and log your progress if possible - that would be a great help matey.

Ah shit yeh gotcha - seen a few Z's running this setup on youtube suppose it removes the chance of any leaks in the stock recirc hoses too :cool2:

Will do andy, it really is a piss easy thing to do though.

Its the stock recircs themselves that leak internally, over time the springs weaken and the diaphragms split.....

ooo just to add my Q45 maf just arrived ;)

pipework arrived today just as i was walking up the driveway the postman walked in with me lol. just gota wait for the BOV now.

all in i recon it will set me back about £60.

ah im not faffing about with all that stuff now, already made my mind up :D just need to buy a reducer and some metal pipe and im done. all in all the q45 setup will have cost me, £40 for the maf £8 for a reducer and £6 for some stright pipe thats £54.

Jimmy the other day you were tossing around the positives and negatives of dual MAF - have you seen this gadget....

I have been trying to contact him by email - but no response yet!!!

Will attempt a phone call tomorrow.

Andy

Andy try Z1, they seem to do this as well.

A while ago the USA guys were playing with uprated internals for the recirc valves to hold higher boost giving the benefits of a recirc valve over dump valves (like no farty type noise every time you lift off the throttle!)

Any ideas if this is still a possibility - did start looking into it before the zed got took off the road! :hammer:

You can buy bovs with dual ports so instead of dumping to atmosphere you can dump it back into the system like the recircs, i think z1 have the extra bits for this with their bovs. have a lookon their site.

I think they like the turbosmart product in the USA - but I do not have any knowledge of same in the uk - Has anyone used the Turbosmart kit that includes the bungs for the existing vac lines and pills/blanks for the recircs?

I just bought some chair rubber bung ends and they fit nicely with a little stretch...... cost £2 from homebase.

Anyway here is what i have done so far, Just waiting for the Valve now.......
