Hi - Happy New Year to all - I have been rattling on about my fuel rail for what seems an age now, but I have finally got something finished and ready for my car!

Just to recap:

I wanted injector choice using top feed Bosch style injectors.

I considered the 300degree rails (and others) a poor solution (for me).

I wanted parallel fuel feed options.

I wanted to prevent thermally conducted engine heat from the engine warming the fuel delivery system.

I wanted to be able to change injectors easily without plenum removal.

I wanted a fuel rail that could grow with my engine as it changes and becomes more powerful. (This system is good for up to 1600cc injectors)!

I didn't want to have to modify my engine too much! (Just the lower plenum).

I promised some pictures so...

These are the fuel rails test fitted to the lower plenum which has the custom injector bungs fitted.

The bungs look like this:

Here you can see the rails with the injectors test fitted - on the bench so to speak:

This is what it's all about - 555cc RCE injectors, as used by many race teams - £35.00 each NEW 1000cc RCE injectors are £75.00!!!

A couple of shots of the rails attached to the lower plenum:

The rails are joined and held in place by two phenolic blocks (non heat transfer material) that are also holding two brackets that hold the rails down via 4 x new (upper plenum fixing) bolts. (they are going to get covered in Carbon Fibre probably so.. :thumbup1:)

I have now got around to the throttle linkage and although I originally polished it, having seen Ant's colour scheme me thinks it's going to be all shine and no contrast so I have decided to paint/coat the throttle linkage and throttle bodies to match the balance bar. Cheers Ant ;-))

When I looked at the the throttle linkage I realised there was a cable control for the cruise that I did'ant need any more, and that the control 'bar/spindle' that everything sits on was not going to be paint'able, or chrome'able due to the tight fit of the bearing and the cable control wheels etc.

So I stripped it all down and had it coated and when it came back I chucked out the cruise control cable control wheel and made a spacer to replace it, then I used 15mm chrome pipe to sheath the 10mm throttle spindle, utilising rubber o'rings to keep the pipe nicely seated and parallel. Then I put it all back together again (painful) - but it looks much better in my eyes anyway. Waddya think?

Here you can see the spacer I made up:

And how it looks with the single control pulley:

And the full linkage:

Yes - the circlip that holds the return spring on is missing - I know ;-))

Thanks MJ

I should have the Lower Plenum Gaskets midweek, then I can start putting the jigsaw puzzle back together again!!!

Looking superb there Andy . Glad you decided to paint/coat the throttle linkage and throttle bodies the same colour as balance bar. I will admit that i wasn't sure myself in doing this, but Custom Exotics said I needed to do it to break the chroming up a bit. So glad I done what they said.

I have done away with my cruise control as well and you have got me thinking now about the single control pulley, whether to do the same??

I've enjoyed following this and keep the pictures coming.

Ant this is yours I believe - hope you don't mind me using the pic - let me know and a mod will come along and slap me if required ;-))

Wish that was my plenum Andy. Mine is not as good as that one lol. When I get 5 mins I will take a closer look at mine and compare to yours if you don't mind to see what needs doing. Another thing to add to my to do list.

You need about 50cm of 15mm chrome pipe from your local heating/plumbers. You can usually buy half a length which is about 1.5M - but you might get lucky and get and odd end for a couple of squids. Half length is about 7-8 squids. Then some 8-10mm rubber o rings to float the 15 mm pipe - I found it worked best if you put the o-rings in the pipe and then slide it on. (You could also use old silicon that you could make thr right size to padd the pipe) The throttle pulley wheel is the one with the locking pin through it, and the 15mm pipe fits over this nicely, but you might have to get your angle grinder out and cut a grove so it sits flush over the pulley spindle/lock pin. Obviously don't cut them too long so that the whole thing gets tight, you only have one spring for the throttle return now so... (Not a problem as the spring's on each throttle body are very strong.) I used the bit of 15mm pipe left over to join 2 x 90degree 16mm connections for the IAA Valve Feed Pipe.

2 x MOCOL 90 degree 16mm red silicon at £7.00 each - job jobbed!

Had a look at mine today. You may have already checked this out, then please tell me to shut up :tongue_smilie: Might be worth checking the clearance between the control bar and the cam rocker covers. Mine looked like there wasn't much clearance betwwen the two. Don't want you to get around to fitting and find they rub with the chrome pipe over them. Fingers cross they are fine.

I checked the tolerances before I did this so should be ok, but I will double check it on the car again and drop you a confirmation photo ;-)

That's fine Andy. Didn't want you to fit it and have problems. It's going look very nice when fitted. Should of guessed that you had checked this before hand with all the work and planning gone into it ;)

Well just in case I screwed up Ant - hang on with yours until I get back to you ;-)

Ant - did you run your coil and injector connectors up from under the plenum?

Going to be running them on top under the throttle cover. You going to be running them under the plenum?
