my GTR is going in the garage for about 4-5 months to have the underneath sorted and to start work to make it mint and new wheels. thing is what should i do with the battery, do i disconnect it or i have been told to leave a charger connetted and is it ok to leave it on its wheels for that long or should i put it on stands, it will be moved around but not that much i do intend on removing steering and supension arms to be shot blasted and painted

I don't know what you "should" do with the battery, but on my zed I installed a quick cut off on the + connector. all I do to disconnect the battery is unscrew a bolt. Leaving the car on the ground will probably end up in a flat spot on your tyres, ok if you are chucking them out but as your doing the suspension you may as well stick it on axle stands.

ok thanks. yeah tyres are scrap i will leave it off stands for now i stripped some of it down yesterday and i need it mobile

no im not sure if i disconnect the battery do they still go flat, if it doesn't i will just disconnect it, i just read somewhere it can still go flat and you should leave a battery charge connected to it, but i dont know if this is true

The battery will still lose charge just not as fast as it would if connected. My one has been sitting in my zed for nearly a year, disconnected for most of the time and its still sitting above 12v (well was last time I checked) On the other side my GSi vectra has been sitting for a month with the battery connected and it's now flat.

How old is the battery?

ย

If its new, pull it and charge it when you are ready to put it back in.

ย

If its old, trickle charge it, or just buy a new one.

it is brand new thats why i dont want to fook it up

Give it a full charge and put it somewhere warm in the house.

No different to it sitting on the shelf in a shop then.

True, good point!

i leave the Z on maintenance charge if I'm not going to drive it for 5 days or so (otherwise it's flat! ) seems to work best for me

You either have a naff battery or parsitic drain.
