Hi Guys, is this one of the heater pipes? What are the chances of me getting it fixed before New Year? Does it require the skills of Jeff or D2 to mend or can I get my local mechanic to fit a replacement part? Where can I get the part from very very quickly? (I really don't want to have to take the train to Newcastle at New Year :scared:)

Your local Nissan dealer may have one if your lucky - you should be able to change it out yourself - or a mechanic could obviously do it - its a 30 min job tops inc topping up water/anti-freeze etc.

It looks like one of the main heater Hoses - please check here:

So it's 14056NE by the looks of it..

Hope that helps matey...

That's if I have interpreted the photo correctly - that is ;-((

Have you got a better picture - maybe zoomed out a little?

Thanks for the feedback Andy. I've attached a slightly wider image, I hope it's enough for you to work with.

That's one of the two pipes that go too and from the heater, and when i did my engine out job, a PITA to get to with the engine in, as i forgot to connect these as i was putting the engine in, only way i managed it was due to not having the gear box attached so could pull the engine forward to give me just enough room to work with.

As far as I'm aware (Unless JeffTT knows of another way) its either engine out, or gearbox off (so you can swing the engine forward on the engine mounts) to sort that out.

Assuming you have a small child available to reach down and undo the bottom clip:chinese:

OK that's a better pic - def the heater pipes: Bit of a pain to do - but very possible:

I suggest you buy both heater feed and heater return pipes and do them at the same time.

These are the parts: 92410 & 92400 I believe:

First move/remove the wiring harness from across the rear of the engine/firewall area(just enough to get a little more room to work).

Using the long screwdriver, loosen the clamps on the firewall end of the hoses/pipes.

Remove the Heater hoses from the two pipes coming from the engine and then get hold of the lower section of those pipes with the long-nosed pliers and twist them free of the firewall pipes.

Take the new hoses and smear a liberal amount of Vaseline in and around the bottom ends. Reaching in with the long-nosed pliers(holding the hose about 30-40mm from the bottom end)force the open end onto the pipe projecting from the firewall(do the same on the other hose as well).

When you have them both on the firewall pipes, slide the loosened hose clamps down from the top end of the hoses and tighten them in place.

All that remains is to push the upper ends onto the engine pipes and fit the clamps to those as well.

Put everything else back into position, and top-up your coolant.

Sounds easy - kiss goodbye to maybe 3 hours if it's your first time ;-)

No - It's possible with the engine in - I have done it on both my TT's..

Just say goodbye to any skin on the backs of your hands ;-))

Good luck.

I've done these on mine quite a few times pretty straight forward, following AndyGP's write up, you don't have to use long nose pliers if you don't have any, there is enough room to get your hand in (i have big hands and managed it).

What you could do is loop the good pipe to bypass the heater matrix so the car is usuable just with no heat till your new pipes arrive. I did this with no prob except for being cold.

Getting pipes quickly is an issue but what you can do is pop off to your local motor factor and buy a length of heater hose and a couple of new jubilee clips, remove the heater matrix pipes from the engine side and link them using the new pipe.

Only a work around and not a fix but gives you time to sort it out, of course you will not have a heater which is a bit unpleasant at this time of year.

Cheers guys, I'll see if the local Nissan dealer has any pipes in stock (if they're open!), failing that, I'll try the jury-rig and wear lots of thick jumpers

Right, I've decided to try the temp fix 'cos none of the parts places are talking to me. So, I've got the top of the bust hose off, but I can't get an angle on the screw on the bottom clip with the long screwdriver and the flex-neck can't get enough pressure to shift it. Anyone got any ideas or clever 'trade tricks'? There are two things to bear in mind: it's cold, dark and raining outside at the moment, and this is the first time I've used a screwdriver on the car. Ever :)

Check my for sale section ad as i have a pipe there that may be the one you need.

See if its the sort a 8?or 7? or 6? mm socket will fit over, then you can gently use a small ratchet on it.You can get a lot more pressure on it to un do it, than screwdrivers. You are able to 'over tighten ' with a ratchet though..

I have had to do these on my old zed, i found cardboard on top of the engine+ lay across it with a torch down the back of engine. Not comfortable, bloody fidlly, but patience will win. :cool3:
