Surly this is false advertising? i mean with out the turbos, its just a bog standard N/A engine....

Yes i know, some will say, but its out of a TT, but he clearly states its a TWIN TURBO ENGINE, then goes on to say TURBOS NOT INCLUDED, note the TT ENGINE part and not ITS FROM... attached to the front of that.

And yes I'm being picky lol, im upset im not going to be able to make it to the Christmas meet due to my car still needing some work for the MOT. :crying:

I know the internals of the TT engine are completely different to the N/A.

hmm, interesting, so if you did a N/A to TT conversion would that mean you would have to change the internals as well?

Advert is listed correctly. There are many differences between a TT and NA engine and you wouldn't normally expect to have turbos included unless specified. When selling a VG its very important to list which version it is.

Typical procedure in that situation is to replace the complete NA engine with a TT engine, and everything associated.

Its not a popular conversion here in the UK, because we have pretty much every combo available as Imports and prices are so low, especially these days. But in the U.S, the versions they have available is limited (eg. they never got 2+2 TT or slicktop TT) and values are higher, so its a more popular conversion.

The seller Andy 300ZX aka Andy Stokes is well known on this forum and at one time traded on the forum.

He is an honest and straightforward guy to deal with(in my experience) and would never engage in any sort of false advertizing.

a TT engine and an NA engine are totally different items.

Here he is selling a TT engine without its turbos....WTF is wrong with that??

if you had an NA engine and added two turbos it wouldnt make it a TT engine!! LOL!! :slap:

:rofl::rofl:

At least he put not included, rather than you buying it and needing them to find out they are not there.

Most used engines are sold minus the turbos anyway and has been said, Andy is a straight bloke.

i wasn't questioning the chaps honesty, I've seen plenty of 300zx engines on ebay, i was wondering how you can class the engine as a TT with out the turbo's, didnt know the engine was that different. but that's now been answered.

So can you class it as a 300zx engine without the 300zx attached?!!?

nope, id class it as a VG30DE for the N/A and a VG30DETT for the TT

Ah - good point! So what would a VG30DETT engine be classed as without turbo's? :whistling:

Now you see why i asked, it wasn't a go at the seller, far from it. it was a general question about the engine.

I can see what your getting at but as you are aware a VG30DETT engine is still a VG30DETT with or without tubs attached.

BTW, there are guys that have converted a VG30DE lump to run twin tubs without changing internals & just running them at 7psi boost! Z1 used to have a good write up on this!

Yup - I have to agree with that as well. I've dealt with Andy on several occasions and can also confirm he's a top guy!

Right, is everyone just completely missing the point or what? it could of been anyone's eBay listing, it wasn't targeting the dude selling, it was a general inquiry as to why people list it as a TT engine with no turbos, as i though tbh, considering the codes are just two letters away IE: VG30DETT & VG30DE respectively, that the only reason it had TT on the engine code was due to two turbos. and from what i could see, the only real noticeable difference between the two is the balance bar. the extra pipe work from the inter cooler, and the exhaust manifolds, the engine other than that, with out the turbos looks exactly the same. and that's what i was getting at.

Had there been a engine for a TT that i had bought because it looked the same as the N/A instead of getting the N/A engine, would there really be anything stopping me running the TT lump as a bog standard N/A? not saying i want to, but just confused me why people listed it as a TT engine with out turbos attached that was all, not like i was going to pursue the matter in a court of law or anything lol

its not what you said...its the way you said it , Thats why your getting the responses you did. Making accusations and assumptions, rather than just asking questions.

Engine differences, I can think of right now :

Pistons, Heads, Cams, Exhaust valves, Oil squirters, Sump, Oil pump, Oil filter bracket, Oil and Water pipes, Manifolds, Injectors, Spark plugs, Balance bar.

and also importantly the Compression ratio is different (due the the different pistons).

If you had managed to swap over all external items allowing you to run it as an NA, and blocked up all the now extra un-needed oil and water feeds round the engine and swapped injectors over so it would actually run, then you would end up with an engine noticeably down on power compared to the standard VG30DE, because of the lower compression ratio difference.

Not at all mate....!

I'd already seen your post (below) wherein you explained etc......

I was just "seconding" the others' views on AndyZ from my own experiences too.

No harm done by anyone!!
