Im well up for it. We have the 20mph around here in the school area and it works a treat.

Once you are past the school etc then its back up to 30mph :)

i think 20mph outside schools is very sensible, but 20mph in all residential areas is overkill and in my opinion a lazy way of trying to reduce road accidents. it said in the item that Britain has the joint safest roads in the world, so why keep on clamping down and clamping down - accidents are a sad part of life and will always happen, but strangling the road network isn't the solution - like Anthony says, better education and personal responsibility will work far better.

ime for 20mph past schools and iff they dug them speed bumps up ide also be up for 20 in residential areas too within reason:cool3:

we've got 20mph limit round here to, also got width restrictions and lots of speed humps and tables, it works altho you get the odd twat speeding now and then.

Although I can understand lowering to 20mph near schools but got to agree that kids need to be educated in road safety. Got a secondary school down the road on a 30mph road. There's a zebra crossing right outside the school gates but the amount of kids that either don't use it or they stand by the edge of it waiting for their mates, so people stop when there's no one to cross.

Spot on Dave!!

Especially for this bit.....

Mr Clark said: "Britain now has the joint safest roads in the world but too many pedestrians and cyclists - including many children - are still being killed or hurt on the roads around their homes and schools."

Well pedestrians and cyclists should ALSO be more careful then! Let's be honest; it's far easier for a pedestrian to stop and look before crossing the road and for a cyclist to try obeying traffic signals; than it is for 1.5 tonnes of metal travelling at 20-30mph to suddenly stop or change direction!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
