Evening folks, so I was careless and just went ahead and plonked UK spec front and rears on my Jap Z .... and now :) .... now I'm learning about wheel offsets :D

See attached image. Can anyone tell me whether 20mm spacers would do it?

Original front spec is

225/50/16's, 7.5J with 45mm offset

replaced with

245/45/16's, 8.5J with 35mm offset

Would appreciate your views.

Many thanks, Alex

Having just read a bit more on safety and the difference between adaptors vs. spacers, I'm perhaps just now thinking that I should stick the original J spec wheels back on until I invest in new wheels all round...(which btw, was the advice I had from JeffTT at the weekend).

HHHmmmm, what would you guys do?

I'm confused. The original J spec front wheels ARE THE SAME as UK spec front wheels.

UK spec rear wheels are 8.5j 245/45/16.

Are you saying you have put UK spec rears on the front? If not and you have put UK fronts on, then you have made no change.

If you have put UK spec rears on the front, then I would have thought no spacer would be needed. 20mm would make them stick out beyond the arch.

For what its worth, I have just fitted UK spec wheels to my Jspec car.

7.5j front, 8.5j rear. The fronts were very set in and I have used a 20mm bolt on spacer to bring them out. They now sit roughly the same as the wider rears, which I felt needed no spacer.

HTH:)

He's saying he fitted UK rears to the front mate :) so yes wider and different offsett.

Yep, I've still got the old set (which I was trying to flog) but now I think I'll give them a bit of a refurb and put them back on for now. Having listened to what the chaps at Zedworld said, I'm better off doing that until I find a new set that fit properly.

Btw, I thought JSpec were all 225s on 7.5J's.

Btw, if the offset is off at the front with the 8.5J's, won't it be the same at the back too. In other words, the spacers will probably push the rears out too far so I might as well go back to original JSpec all round...

The lesson here was - I was an arse and just went ahead and did this without thinking. Live and learn...

Front and rear hubs are different offsetts mate.

cheers
