As part of my job, sometimes we have to evict some of our tenants. Usually after the court hearing they have 7 days to vacate the property, and any belongings that still remain are classed as rubbish after a further 7 days.

When it gets this far im called in to clear the crap out. Now 90% of the time, its all rubbish.

But this one was different. A tenant, that had been a naughty boy by posing as a doctor to gain credit, run up huge debts, and lots of other stuff, and done a runner. After clearing most of the house i find a watch in a cupboard.

Looking at it, it is very heavy polished stainless steel, in a case with a certificate of authenticity, showing manuf, serial number etc, the back is engraved with the same details.

It is a Brietling Navtimer, having done a bit of research, i have found a new one identical to the one ive now got. with a rrp of £2500. I have spoken to the manuf, and they confirm it is a genuine, but cant give an idea of price unless it is seen.

There are only 4 suppliers in the UK, the closest being in Cetral London.

Anyone know anything about BREITLING watches of Switzerland???

Featured Replies

I have a collection of good Swiss watches Cartiers, Rado's, etc - Breitlings are too common to warrant much second hand and there are loads and loads of fakes about.

Watches of Swizerland are one of the largest retailers of good quality Swiss watches in London. You need to understand the luxury watch market a bit better - average profit margin on most mainstream luxury watches is around 40% so a jeweller can buy that watch in at £1500 brand spanking new assuming you got the rrp correct. I would be surprised if that were the RRP because there were several versions of that watch made and they all retailed for around £4500 though some were cheaper. You have not said if the face was black or white or the strap was leather or steel. If it has ANY scratches to the face, bezel or strap then the value will plummet. It will also be worth a lot more to a collector if it comes with box, papers, receipts and certs of authenticity. I would guess you would get an offer from a jeweller of around £700-£850 (again based on your rrp of £2500). If it is real then I would recommend these guys:

They will give you a fair appraisal - but don't be scared to haggle with them a bit - I have sold and bought loads of watches through these guys.

Hope this helps

Hi Stu,

They are good watches. I have owned one for ten years.

Most high streets have a Breitling dealer.

A dealer will give you about one third of retail if you are lucky. you might get about 50% on ebay.

Call Breitling with the Sn and they will tell you if it's authentic or not mate, nice watches but there are a lot of fakes around, I bought 1 in the Bahamas

Ive had a Brietling for about 15 years now and in that time the price has doubled.

Hang on to it its a better investment than a Rolex IMHO

:) yep hang on to it if you can i really like breitlings and if i had the money i would have bought it off you :hyper:

I have a Rolex and it keeps terrible time (they all do), if it is a real self winding jobbie I guess it will do the same.

breitling, one of the best IMO.

I just purchased myself a gold rolex with a blue face.

But dont sell the watch mate they are good stuff and you will enjoy owning it.

Me too - I have a couple of Breitling's - including a Navitimer - great watches - what colour face does it have? Give ya a grand for it ;-))

Keep it mate - I have a Breitling Colt Chronometer and it's a top quality timepiece. It's tough too; it hasn't accumulated half the scratches to the clasp/strap that my Tag has, despite being worn almost as much!

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
