Hi Guys, Looking under the car yesterday and notice that there are 2 silver briaded wires coming from the cat box and that they've both been cut.

 

Is this something other people have done and for what reason? or should I try reconnecting them?

 

Also does anyone know how to test the speedo sensor at the gear box?

They are just the cat overheat sensors. They aren't of any relevance as far as ECU control is. Trouble is with them is thes sensors pretty much weld/corrode themselves to the pipes and because they are so small, just round off. You'll find a lot of them are like this. They don't affect the running of the car.

 

Every time you need to remove the exhaust, they need to come out....so many people just disable them.

I haven't got the info to hand, but if you put a multimeter across both connections, set to very low volts, ideally an analog multimeter, and spin the cog on the speed sensor, you will get a reading when you spin it (i think in the correct direction), i can't remember the official figures tho, i did look in the manual, but couldn't find it matey.... HTH...

i think we're talking milli volts tho, 50mv rings a bell, but i could be completely wrong.... :)
