like does the dump valve have to be made specifically for a 300zx or is a dump valve a universal thing?

there are ones specifically made for the 300zx.

 

There are different ones kicking about depending on where your wanting to put them. i.e. on the hardpipes in the engine bay or in place of the stock recircs.

whats the cheapest option? they dont add any performance anyway?

Nope.....no performance whatsoever until your running "silly" power.

 

Wouldnt always look for the cheapest option as some can leak to rough idle and other sorts of problems.

Cheapest option is not to bother buying them as they are useless tat. Better off spending money getting your HICAS fixed which you seem to have problems with spending money on replacing hicas arms (as you say they are too expensive), but would rather spend money on something that doesn't do anything (dump valves) and a 'loud' filter? :confused: Priorities with the Z32!
