The rolling shell of my zed was taken away today to be re painted, we took everything out the engine bay and they are taking all the windows out and doors and boot off to do a top class job.

I am having it done here http://www.banburys.net/ (have a look in the gallery my old ferrari is in there !! mellow yellow). They also did my Porsche and there work is absolutely stunning.

Anyhows I want to go for a bright white again as it looks lush IMO and im getting airbrushing done under the hood but I want a really nice pearly one. The one on there you could hardly notice at all, anyone got any suggestions?.

Oooh. So you finally took it to them! Nice one! Look forward to seeing it as they did a flawless job on your 911!

I'd say go for either the new Lexus pearl white or the pearl white that the new 370Z comes in. Unfortunately, unless in direct sunlight, you're not going to notice the pearl as much, but the lexus one is more noticeable. If you want it a little more noticeable then you need to add a blue flip to the paint or something. But just go subtle as it can look incredibly garish otherwise as a lot of flip paints generally tend to.

The most amazing pearl white I've ever seen. Pics don't do it justice. It's a colour I'll do my car if I respray again and don't go for a Nissan colour.

Seen some in California last year and in the sunlight, the colour just blew me away. Was an incredible cool glow to it.

I know yours is Toyota Pearl....so it 'may' be the same. I have seen some of the Toyota pearl whites....depends on how much pearl coat is added as to how the overall effect is. Maybe yours never had enough pearl coat?

I think mine was just not a very pearly colour, im liking those ones they can make me trial cards for whatever pearl whites I want. Cant tell from the pics but are they a real bright white as well?

I have to stay to a real colour as its the whole reason the car is being done again is you cant buy the tint for the colour on there anymore. The replacement tint in the "same colour" makes the paint look a different colour.

So main thing is it can be touched up this time with no problems, the respray is costing more than I paid for the car lol. Pearl whites dont look too chavy as well IMO

Im really liking the lexus pearl, I might go to the dealers to look at one in the flesh if I can.

Yeah they are pretty white. Nice and crisp.

Not sure what you mean by the 'tint'. From what I understand, that was a stock Toyota colour....so should still be available??

no something to do with some eu rule or something, one of the parts of the paint is not made any longer. Basically the safe replacement colour from a different maker is a slightly different colour although the same paint code, so it looks different when you paint it. The pearl is still available but in my case its impossible to touch up, had two garages tell me this now so I know its not porkys. If you get a respray done I would check its a future proof colour and maybe buy an additional few litres to be on the safe side.

Most paint shops will have colour cards you could have a look at in the sunlight.

I remember when I painted my mates mini we looked at a load of them, its amazing what the the sunlight can do so some colours.

be carefull going on colour cards/chips as when painted some look totally different as i found out to my expense!

Does anyone know the name of the colours or the paint code for either the nissan or the lexus? The paint shop said they can spray some cards for me but need the codes or colours.
