Right...

This is what it has come to.

Do i go ahead with a engine swap? Or do i go with a Honda NSX?

Engine swap:

Had my 300 about 6 years now, i have some nice parts which i will be using, Bride Gias carbon seats, takata harnesses, Defi gauges, Quaife diff etc. etc. Because of this whole garage saga i dont want them to get the better of me and try to turn the car into something special and unique. I think for myself i need to get it done. There are several engine i could consider RB30, LS1, Nissan V8, V12 from a BMW 850I csi, i'm sure there are other engines i could consider. I think the 300zx will be faster than what ever i do to the NSX. I also like the idea of a road legal track car, compleltly gutted and striped with a full roll cage.

Honda NSX:

Maybe it is time to move on, start again from scratch. A Honda NSX is a great looking car. They only have 270bhp however they have supeior handling and a better power to weight ratio, torquie engine, build quality is all hand built. 0-60 figures are around 5-5.7sec depending on spec. In stock form i dont think they will be quicker enough however with a turbo kit you can get them upto 550bhp at the rear wheels. They are also one of the most rare japanese cars availible.

I am stuck between the two options. Really don't know what to do.

One day i'm like yeah lets get the 300 finally sorted up and running. Then another day im like it is time to move on and getting a NSX will be a real head turner and unique.

What to do???

If i may i would like to offer my thoughts, please remember these are only thoughts.

It does not really matter what you do to a 300zx in terms of tuning. You will never make your hard earned money back once you want to sell. And in most cases you will loose a large % from the cars value, especially if you use another engine from another car. Although no one is arguing that you would enjoy the extra performance.

Now to the wonderful NSX, wow! now this car is worth 5-7 times that of a Nissan 300zx. I would say tuning this car in anyway has to be done with the full backing of a reputable NSX company. If not your NSX will be unsaleable.

So why not if space allows, keep the 300zx and buy a NSX as well. Then you will have two of the best Japanese supercars to grace our roads.

But if you have to make a choice of the two and have the cash, go for the NSX.

Well said that man.

Well if you insist on modifying the car you might as well stick with the zed. Take a nice standard NSX and wipe it's value with mods. I've owned a lot of modified vehicles since the late seventies and each and every one has cost me a fortune. If I was going to buy the Honda I'd defo keep it standard though. I personally prefer the zed in the looks department but there is no denying the Honda quality which is second to none IMO.

Forget all the suggestions Jaf !

Dont get sod all.

Have a nice holiday somewhere, chill for a while.

Say maybe three months ? Have a lurk around other websites, Jap, Yank etc.

Somethin will catch your eye and Bang, you will be away !!

You have been through a load of shite with the present Zed, and you need time to clear your head.

My bets are, you will return with some sort of Zed ?

Good luck with your choice, and remember if you need a shot in a 1600 bhp, twin turbo 30 year old yank, I am only a few hundred miles up the road and can arrange it ! ;)

ooo... 1600bhp? what car is that in?

:D

The NSX would take all my money up so... i would have a good 6 months before really starting to tune it, i would be able to enjoy it up until that point.

My main concern with the NSX is it wont be fast enough. My brother has a RX7 slightly tuned, all my mates have tuned jap cars from turbo 4wd swifts all the way through to R34, supras, evo's, corvettes. I live not too far from a American air base and some of them have some pretty quick motors :D.

In that case may be an imported engine is the way to go. TBH modding a nsx is not the way to go as what i have read when turbo-ed your always waiting for it to go bang and it will with big rebuild cost. You could have one serious zed!

there's a good, tuned R34 for sale on the gtr board ;)

Thought about a R34 lovely cars but car shows are floaded by them.

Out of cursiousity have you got a link?

surely buy an NSX and twin turbo it ;)

There are a couple of single turbo kits out there which will give you around 550bhp and the wheels.

Which in a Nsx will be more than enough power because of their nature.

ooo... 1600bhp? what car is that in?
