What do you guys reckon is the best exhaust for a LWB auto?

How much performance increase can you expect from a decent exhaust system?

I'm looking to upgrade and would like some advice.

thanks

All depends, too many variables to give an exact amount of BHP/Torque to expect.. I would say in the regions of 10-15bhp though as that's what everyone says...

But it all depends on what you want, with regards to looks, sound, performance e.t.c

Also your budget...

I would also say, it depends on whether you want a X pipe or an H pipe, or a Single exit..

To be honest, you need to look around, see whats available & don't let anyone tell you what the "best" exhaust is, even when it comes to price..because some people have different reasons for buying what they have :)

i would say that i'm looking for a jack of all trades type exhaust, with a a bit of all of the above - a nice look, nice sound and a bit of extra kick but can you explain what are the benefits of an x pipe over an h - or visa versa?

Budget - well i wouldn't want to go crazy - but i know that i'm looking at a good few hundred quid fitted whatever i go for.

Any system particularly recommended for the zed?

Alunox all the way

dunno, but I've got japspeed decat pipes, mounted to mongoose oval rear boxes, and it sounded like a nas car before it went bang.

Though as the Zed isn't renown for its sound proofing inside the vehicle, for get hearing your passengers and the radio unless its turned waaaay up lol

How have you got mongoose rear boxes, it usually came as a cat back system.

If you do in fact have the system along with de-catts, you won't really get a great deal better for what ever the cost is tbh fella.

smithy

I put on the Japspeed one also and it is amazing quality for the price. The whole thing is polished as if anybody will see it under the car apart from the ends. I heard the sound on some youtube clips and it sounded really good there. Mine sounds a bit different and I can only think the difference is the turbos as turbos already change the sound from how an NA sounds. I guess getting the cats off also changes the sound - louder again.

As it is it is much quieter driving around town than my previous custom made system and yet still sounds good in the tunnel test.

It has the mid pipe section siamesed then split off again.

Japspeed thats one my 300zx and it sounds great when it was running mate!

i was thinking of changing mine. not to sure i like the sound although many have said it sounds good. Its quite quiet but has a bit of bass to it. i want to hear the v6 scream a bit more. at the moment its just a noise.

mine has no y / H pipe.

To answer what is best I would say Veilside, BB, Alunox but if your asking for within a budget then I doubt you will get any of those !!

On a side note, nice to see my shed has made a return to the forum !!!!

and your zorst is still going strong;)

Vellside are exceptional quality. Best workmanship and materials of ANY Z32 exhaust I've ever seen.

I have Fujitsubo Giken Kogyo Exhausts... That is a quality exhaust :)

I must say, not the loudest, although, a quality exhaust shouldn't be loud - my opinion of course. :)

I have a JDM unfortunately its in need of some attention matey, doesn't seem to of been looked after that well before i got it, I've only driven it 18miles so far, and already had to do an engine change.
