Hi all,

I have used my Z for the drive to-from work twice this week; each time I returned home in the dark......

..............and I have to say that fitting HIDs is definitely the BEST simple upgrade everyone should do to a 300zx. I drove home on twisty country B-roads at 55-65mph and didn't need full beam once!

Upgrade your headlights - it's best £100 you'll spend on your Z:hyper:

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Im suprised you havent done the single wire mod??

Im suprised you havent done the single wire mod??

i guess they go out and then come back on again , and whats that single wire thing

All you have to do is earth one of the wires that goes to your bulbs.

Once this is done your dipped beam will stay on when your high beam is on. rather than it going off.

Its ideal mod to do when using HIDs.. As they need to warm up etc. so its better if they stay on all the time :)

what does bi xenon mean , are they like the bullocks then

H4 (Bi-Xenon) - ULTIMATE

I think its the high beam and low beam in the same bulb, We need H1's

These are more than good enough. Just as good as the £160 kits, Ive had about 6 kits for different cars and tbh the are all th same ;)

im guessing h1 are for our cars and the other h's wont work .

so these then

H1 - ULTIMATE

£199.00

These kits have been specifically designed for us to suite most 2002+ cars which have sophisticated lighting electronics. This 3rd Generation kit now features smaller and lighter ballasts which draw even less current than previous generations. Due to the ballasts' unique "soft-start" sequence this kit will not damage any of the car's onboard ECU's and it will not cause the dreaded "bulb failure" alarms to light up on the dashboard.

im guessing they gotta be better than standed if they smaller and draws alot less NRG from ya car ,

That's confusing. I read in a separate thread that we need H3s.

Note: For Nissan 300ZX (Z32) owners, both UK and JDM models use H3 for dip beam and H1 for main beam.

so you do need h3's i think

Your best getting intouch with danny mate to be honest.

Either way tomorow or monday, they wouldn't leave until monday anyways, so don't worry bud.

smithy

One of the best mods i have ever done to my zed!

Paid Danny @ DTA £99 and got a superb quality peice of kit delivered right to my door! Also bought some LED sidelights from him that match my HID's

Mine has passed 2 MOTs with no problems what-so-ever whilst they've been fitted!

HTH :)

I would love to upgrade mine but a few people have told me that they're illegal!

Also, many of the sellers state "For off road use only."

Don't worry about that - the tester will never notice! The dipped beam is a projector type lense anyway so as long as they work and the beam pattern/aim is fine it will pass. I had them in my red Z for years and it must have passed at least 5 MOTs with them in......

what does bi xenon mean , are they like the bullocks then

HID010

H4 (Bi-Xenon) - ULTIMATE

£225.00

Bi-Xenon means both dipped and full beam - H4 bulbs are installed in many cars and combine both full and dipped in one bulb. The ZX has 2 separate lamps for full and dipped; so you only need single bulbs in the dipped beam holders!

im guessing h1 are for our cars and the other h's wont work .

Note: For Nissan 300ZX (Z32) owners, both UK and JDM models use H3 for dip beam and H1 for main beam.

H1 kits will fit. All the h3c kit ect is just for std jap bulbs ;)

For a 300zx dipped beam you need the H3 kit. H3/H3C (for UK/J-spec respectively) both have the same shape base plate on the bulb. H1 is full beam only!! As a few above (including Smithy who sells them;)) have said it's most definitely H3 that you need!!!

Richard:)

Hi Guys,

Just been pointed in the direction of this thread by Znut (thanks mate!) and thought I'd give my 2p (as I sell these by the bucketload!)

For the 300ZX you'll need a HID-PRO H3 kit for your dip-beam - this is by far the most popularly sold car to Z32 owners. There is no need to opt for the much more expensive HID-Ultimate kit as this is really only for post 2002 cars that have ECU controlled (ie BMW Canbus) headlight systems.

I will be open for business as usual from Monday 9am. I can be contacted on 0845 4744-382. Kits will usually be delivered within 48 hours of placing your order provided they are in stock. If not in stock please add another 24~48 hours.

For more information please see: http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/hid.php

For your 300ZX (Z32) you'll need:

HID002 - HID-Pro Conversion Kit (H3/6000K): £91.00

DEL002 - Royal Mail Special Delivery: £8.95

TOTAL = £99.95

I can also strongly recommend you purchase a pair of ultra bright LED sidelights which match the colour of your HID kit:

BLB014 - 501/1W Ultra Bright LED (6000K) - pair: £12.00

As for stating that HID kits are for "off road use only" - this is a legal disclaimer which all resellers should display. Officially, HID kits should not be retrofitted into headlight systems which are not originally made to work with HID kits. This has to do with E-marks and other regulations. However, in practice - and to the best of my knowledge - none of my customers have ever been pulled over and fined for using HID kits and none of the cars have ever failed an MOT.

If anyone wishes to dicuss this further then please get in touch.
