Hi peeps, im replacing the head gasket on my n/a zed and was just wondering what upgrades i could do while the heads off  the cars standard apart from a de-cat exhaust and air filter with some hi flow manifolds going on at the same time as the gasket. any ideas? not looking to spend to much ether so the cheaper the better.

hi mark, i done the same to my car when i got it the head gasket was gone so took engine out & fixed it but while it was out we done a EGR system bypass this frees up a few bhp, also a plenum water bypass this helps the inlet manifold(plenum) run cooler which helps with power & working on the car in the future as it gets rid of lots of silly pipe work! there is a how too on here somewhere for both of these!! & these cost next to nothing just need some hose!, u can do a aiv bypass too,get rid of the aircon & all that goes with it(lose weight & gain some bhp) you could fit boost jets too but read up on these as some peeps are against them..they give more boost pressure!. hope this helps...:D

1: AC doesn't really loose any BHP. On full throttle, the ECU disengages the AC, so there is virtually no power loss. It's only the compressor that weighs anything. The heat exchanger and pipework is pretty minimal in weight.

2: Adding boost jets to a car with no turbos is a futile operation!

whoops my bad lol just noticed the NA now lol...as for air con the belt runs of the pullys so this will put a small amount of resistance leading to small loss of bhp plus getting rid of the AC rad give better airflow to the radiator aiding in more cooling more cold air better all round!:)

By the looks of that its about $1000 for each pair there or there abouts.

 ok don't think il be doin the cams! Lol

my plan now goes something like this...

Loose the air con

bypass water channels on the plenum

fit an oil cooler

clutch bleed nipple bypass

hi flow manifolds

uprated thermostat

new service parts ( filters, etc)

Not even worth it IMO unless you're a scavenger and are aiming big BHP. On an NA, it won't make any noticable difference.

Loose the air con

I wouldn't bother personally. You loose more than you gain....ie virtually nothing.

Thinking hard now, I've never used the air con so I could loose it and it wouldn't make a difference ether way. Is it worth keeping if I don't use it?

worth keeping for a bit of resale value? More working stuff is better than less working stuff.
