Looks like a very good example. im not sure of how big a job it is to change the seal on the gearbox but it's almost a certainty that the 'box would need to come out. And while it's out, the thrust bearing could be changed......two birds - one stone ;)

Despite questionable body mods, it does look tidy. Main seal can fail on even the tidiest of Zs. It's a gearbox off job. Between £250 - £300 I'd imagine.

would those kind of costs include the thrust bearing?

Cheers for your help

Can't imagine it would alter a mechanic's price that much. I think the release bearings are only about £20.

Last question... Promise :-)

Is it the kind of problem that can still be driven for a while without getting fixed as long as i keep topping up with oil? Will it effect gear changes?

Cheers All

Oil 'can' find its way onto the clutch linings and once they are contaminated, the bite can be lost. But weepy main seals are quite common-place on Z32s. You'll probably be ok for a while. If it's only a minor drip, you should be ok. Just keep an eye on it.
