Bad Day

Ok once again my car is back on my drive on axle stands seems to be something that happens weekly. This time i have a knocking noise from my engine. Quick histroy with this i upped the boost preasure too 15psi. I took it for a spin and ohh man it was great. I pulled up in a bus stop and notice a slight noise turned engine off and on and it was gone.

I started the drive back home and the noise was getting worse, pulled up again and its coming from the right side of the engine. I looked at the oil preasure gauge and its at 0 then it went back up slightly and it dosnt get passed the first positive line, even when driving.

Any ideas here guys i really cant afford a rebuild.

Kinda like that although a hell of a lot louder, best bet is if i go record it i think.

you`ve managed to wreck your engine!!!! boost should only be increased when your matching the fuel that goes in aswell.

good point has the car been chipped(remapped ) for the raised boost as stock fuelling runs out about 12psi

What ever you don't rev it, if its that bad already but louder, it wont be long until it goes bang, and you really don't want to be putting a Con rod through the side of your oil pan like i did.

could t be dett, ive never heard dett so not sure what it sounds like

sounds like coffee beans in an empty tin being rattled round when servere(got quite loud in my pearl zed when the ebc was overboosting) but can be inaudible too in some cases

my first engine spat a conrod out and it made a right old mess(hole in oil pan and block) ended up buying another engine at the cost of £1000.

remapping or chipping and increased boost should only be performed at a rolling road.imo

yeah, I've just got a new engine ready for mine, getting the engine crane tomorrow, so will be out sorting that most of the day.

So glad i work for my self, though the misses is looking after the business while im sorting out the engine on the car.

most of the quality off the shelf generic maps are excellent and should be fine DTA's, JD's maps also andyp's are all pucca for basic mods and stock tubs / ic's as long as nothing drastic like tubs/injectors/ic's are changed

i`m not saying there not but at a rolling road you can find out if the engine is healthy to start with.i`ve learnt the hard way and its not nice.

good point you do need a good engine and tubs to begin with

like i say i`ve learnt the hard way and now £200 for a day at the rollers seems so obvious.its always easy after the event.

Well thanks for the advice although i find it odd that my oil preasure went to 0? I mean is it possible that the oil pump is shot and oil isnt getting to the upper parts of the engine?

Here we go, sorry its a bit dark. Right this is basically as loud as it gets it only gets faster with revs. Dont worry im not gonna be driving it till its fixed now.

sounds not dis similar from when my pearl zed hit 20.1psi. and buggered the lifters(as I remember) also my dipstick was popping out too(wasn't piston ring lands as first suspected) and oil was collecting across the rear bumper from the exhausts

imo thats one knackered engine

It might not be, but id seriously get that checked out before you decide to drive it again, and try not to start it too much unless its getting diagnosed.

Personally, from going from personal experience, always think the worse, then you wont get any nasty surprises like i did, with engine tapping / knocking from now on, if i get it, the car is going to stop being ran until i find out what it is.

i can hear the knocking on the video, in fact its quite loud even from inside the passenger cabin, when your near it does it sound like a midget hammering on some pipe work with a hammer? (best way to describe it) if so id say its your shills or big end area.

Dump the oil + look at it + the filter.

If its full of tiny bits of metal, get looking for another engine.
