For anyone who has is thinking of doing a plenum water bypass or just wondered what it look like, take a look at the photo's below, its an old engine from a breaker but had previously been done, I have highlighted the new pipes with red lines.

The advantages of doing this is to remove unnecessary pipe work that can fail, and replacing required pipe work with new which is good for future breakdown prevention.

can you do a diagram for a non turbo too please? :)

Yes sure, will post it tomorrow. :D

Jeff

Just a note guys.

I have seen a couple of these laterly were someone has removed the pipes completely leaving the turbos with no coolant supply.

Please note every one this must not be done really .

So pay close attention to jeffs diagrams .

To keep the supply of water to the tubo's.

Does it matter exactly where these pipes go?

In jeffs the pipes are different to the pics in Boldys. The one that goes from bottom passenger side turbo up to the top.

Paul - you mean as in the two passenger side pies criss crossed over from the Jeff picture: here:

I don't think it makes any difference - but someone much more qualified will be along in a min to confirm. ;-)

how easy is this with the engine in? I have my plenum off at the moment, thinking about doing it...

Did mine originally with the engine in and plenum on , just needed to remove battery and a few bits for access , should be really easy with the plenum off .HTH

Hi Jeff

Quick question:

What sort of pipe do you use? size, material and where best to buy?

Hi Jeff

Quick question:

I used Silicon bud and i,m sure it was 6mm bore ( just get a second opinion , my memory,s not what it used to be :whistling:) got mine from a show , i,m sure the traders on here can supply. HTH

You sure silicon is ok? Thought it would have to be some kind of multi ply stuff?

Speak to Dan@DTA he can get you the right tubing you need, very helpful chap. Thats where i got mine from when i done it the other week.

Thanks,

Ant

The hose that runs down the lowest to the turbo. Whats the best way to approach that one?

Ive ran my hand down the back and found it all the way down to the connection but cant see a way to tackle it from above with no space. I cant even see anything.

Ive yet to take a look from underneath. Should I do that blind from above or try underneath.

I did mine when the plenum was off (obviously) there is much more room. I think i also took the battery out. Its really easy to do from above

Thanks I have the plenum off, battery out and valve covers off. Im just a little confussed as all the pics are after pics and im trying to feel my way around when its a little differnent.

Mine in the middle joins into a rail section, ie it goes from the top hose - rail - hose. I dont want to start grabbing things and pulling them out blindly.

youve confused me lol!!!

It really is a simple job. With the pleneum off the pipes are almost at the top of the engine. you should be able to see them with ease. should only take 5 min with the stage your at

Hi,

Are there any diagrams/instructions available on doing a full bypass?

The pipe to my nearside turbo's leaking and need to give instruction to my tame local mechanic.

Cheers!
