Id Say, i don't mind gives me something to do, and hopefully going to be worth it, got to go pick the new engine up on Wednesday, still unsure whether i do the swap my self or get Jeff at Zed world to do it, if i did it my self id defo need some help due to not wanting to bugger anything up on the car. just not sure if i even have enough clearance to get the gearbox off or not.

do it your self mate just take your time and its not that bad.i was very doughtful when i first bought mine but now its just the same as my old escort turbo, everything only fits where it should do.

and the money you`ll save can go on mods like exhaust or boost controller etc

Buddy buying something like that is a 'must do myself!!' or else you will pore your money away. If you have the time and resources to do it yourself then go ahead bud!!

Only problem i can see with doing it my self, is wondering if i can get the clearance to get to the gearbox to take it off the drive shaft.

I have no problem with trying to tackle the job my self, i just haven't done an engine change..... ever lol

Id prefer someone there who has done it before, not for them to do it for me, but for them to be there if something goes tits up, make sense?

a pipe that goes nowhere? i have one the same on the other side

They are from the Holes in the Targa tops as Drain holes so Water doesnt get stuck in them and Rot the metal! They are meant to be like that :)

Anyone near Northampton who i can rent a engine crane from? or even lend a hand? its kinda upsetting seeing my car in the garage and not being able to drive it :(

If tea and coffee isn't enough, how about bacon butty, or egg and bacon butty... or candle lit dinner (think the misses might have something to say about that though)

Also, can i get some advice from someone who's done this sort of thing before please.

First its a Engine from a Auto, is there anything i need to do to make sure its going to connect to my manual gear box?

Second, What fluids do i need once its in? i know about engine oil, coolant for the rad, anything else?

Third, How do you go about depressurising the fuel line when you cant start the engine?

These pipe come from the A.I.V system (behind the plastic wheel spats) and conect to the stock nissan exhaust system.

After market exhaust systems dont have this connection so you find these pipes not connected.

TBH this is not the type of car you want to do your first engine swap on. There are a lot of checking and testing of the donna engine and engine items before you even think about putting the engine in.

If i was you take a look at the online manual on Dans website (DTA) link is here http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi

Then decide if you want to do it yourself or not. But, if you do decide to DIY im sure with the resources and the help from the nice chaps on this forum your be ok.

Anyway if you fook it up just call Jeff

Thanks for the link, im sure the flywheel and other parts i need can be salvaged from my old engine, though im thinking of replacing the clutch while doing it to save the hassle of doing it again later.

and the money you`ll save can go on mods like exhaust or boost controller etc

on a non turbo that would be interesting.

think you`ll find they`re a.i.v that would be one hell of a drain!

Bloody Hell the engine Did not look like that a couple of years ago

Unfortunately that's how it looked when i picked it up a week ago, engine blew on the way to the MOT station, made it just 18miles doing no more than 60mph, only owned it since 17th of September, but couldn't collect it till 9th of October due to work commitments and a 4 day trip.

Its been sitting on the isle of Uist in the outer hebrides for a year and half rusting away until i bought her. shes will be getting all fixed up though, got a new engine coming on Wednesday for her, shes just had her interior cleaned, but cant take photos at the moment garage is too dark and the flash will just ruin the effect.

Still trying desperately to find a 2ton engine crane, but the only place near me that rents them out, only does half ton ones, defo not man enough to tackle the 300zx V6 with gear box attached.
