Im trying to help out Marv 300, manual TT. Starts fine, but boost will not go past zero, have checked pipes and all appear good. Ecu comes up with error code 13. Temp sensor. If this is shagged would it cause no boost or what else to look at??????

Happy days, after a good clean of the temp sensor, marv just left mine and boosted up the road.

Thanks all.

Accelerate as hard as it will go for a hundred yards or so and stop, open the bonnet and smell both sides of the engine. If there is a seized turbo than that exhaust manifold will be really hot and smoking

New temp sensors are ~£12. I had a code 13 on mine...renewing it sorted the problem.

To be fair, it's the usually the connectors (shocker) that are the problem, rather than the sensor itself.

So just to confirm, is the temp sensor doens't work, the ecu prevents the turbos from boosting completely? or just reduced boost?

When Marv came over to mine, it would drive ok ish, bit groggy and boost would not go into positive or past zero, after checking a few bits i noticed the sensor had the green corrosion and clearly had given up. a few minutes cleaning with a small file, and it fixed the issue. The ecu sees a problem and to prevent possible damge it will put it into safety mode,

After he drove off, it was very clear it had worked.

ECU still gave error code 13, but this will be removed hopefully after a reset of the ecu.

Even on safety boost you have positive boost. A gauge that does not go past zero is a worry or a broken guage.

The temp sensor problem might be unconnected except so as to cause boost to be limited to safety boost. If you have no boost at all it is a worry as either you have a major boost leak or much worse a siezed turbo. When mine did this it was a siezed turbo.
