Help identifying which turbo smokes..

I've been to look at a zed TT tonight that has the occasional bit of smoke at idle + sometimes on startup to see why it does it....It has had the pcv valves done.Does not always smoke, hard to say exactly if it was blue or grey?

My problem is, its got a balance bar between the exhausts.

Any simple ways to tell?

Remove the inlet to turbo pipe?

Have you got a twin exhaust or single outlet ? or have a cross over section in the middle of your exhaust ?

That makes it more difficult , mines got no crossover so it,s very obvious which side is smoking :headvswal:headvswal

Even if you take an intake pipe off to see if there,s any oily residue probably wont help cos most of the time it,s the rear oil seal which starts giving out which allows oil straight into the red hot exhaust elbow , it doesn,t actually go through the intake system and get burnt which is why it,s normaly white smoke and not blue which is usually burnt oil .

Hope this makes sense bud and i hope i,m right in saying it but this is what i sussed out when mine were replaced a few years ago , front compressor wheels were more or less spotless , rear turbines and elbow pipes were as sooty as a sooty thing , lol . HTH
