I'm talking 1/4 mile now :D

Why is it that the 300zx struggles to get into the high 12's doing the 1/4 mile when a stage 1 supra ie around 1 bar of boost on oem turbos can get into the 11's?

Both similar power, both similar weights, both RWD

poopra has a 6 speed gearbox which is better suited (i.e closer gear ratios but overall similar top end) to quicker acceleration.

Must be down to gears.

Plus in stock form the have an extra 40bhp on top of us.

A stage one for us is around the 270hp mark and a bup for the supra is just over 400hp

no its not :smash: at the fly a stage 1 well put together zed is around 360-370 and a supra is slightly more at 380-400 for bpu so not much in the real world difference ;)

fax and figures aside, the supra i went in the other day was manual tt 1995 plate, and i will say i have never been in anything so quick, but i have also been in a auto tt supra, and when my mate stuck his foot down in it i was not that impressed. When Chris gets his head around his new purchase i will put up the mods on here.

Sorry i ment 370hp

Still 30hp is still alot to make a big differance plus i think the soop is lighter

supra weighs about the same. I'm surprised BPU Supra's are getting in to the 11's using normal road tires ...

What we need are sticky tires, I got into the mid 12's when I tried slicks the one time and to be very honest, wasn't doing a very good job with them. They had loads more potential that would be unlocked with a bit of practise. My 60ft were 1.9 and they are good for 1.5 / 1.6.

Supra TT is aprox 1550kg and the zx 1610kg.

So thats 60kg lighter plus 30-40hp more. That should be more than enough to make a differance imo :)

Bit im also surprised that they are getting into the 11's Was it a one off kirbz?? i know the majorty of them are around the 12.5 mark

if you look at the overall grid the top one is on stock turbos running 1.1 bar on an auto box and ran 11.58 1/4 mile with a 114.78 terminal speed!! was running street legal sticky tires

You got a link??

Sounds like a one off to me jamie got 10.9 and he has 632 hp:confused:

The majority that are running 12 and under are single turbos.

TT on average are around the 13 sec??

i think that was a supra shoot out day that you linked, theres an overall one

heres the link bud

There are only 4 that have managed it the rest are 12 and upwards

Here is his rides section

Hes changed his lsd ect. His average is 11.9 and he has a custom map etc and a really good engine.

Im sure we could manage low 12's with a custom map etc :)

not sure bud but there mightly fine times for a bpu supra with a home mapped car :)

just been looking at the weights of the cars and mine should be about 50kg lighter than the supra and once i get the leak sorted should be running a good bar of boost so guessing around 350-380 depending on how strong the engine is so with sticky tyres i wonder what time i could get down to?

Mike

BUP soops are on average 13 sec plus. The ones below that have a few toys like water injection, lsd upgrades and hybrid turbos

No reason why you will not be able to get around those times. if you have the same power and weight etc its impossible not to or they have pixy dust :D

Also he may of done 100 runs to get that time and it just hooked up perfectly on the day. 1 to 2 secs is nothing to do with the car that will be down to the driver aswell

For an average on the day time your best compairing the shootout day tbh.

See where im comming from :)

TBH i have never done a 1/4 mile, always had the car in bits or didnt want to break it LOL but i'm getting the urge to use this one on a track and 1/4 mile :)

Biggest issue with the Z I always found was launching it. Lots of anti-squat in the rear geometry doesn't exactly help with weight transfer and traction. How do the supra 60ft times compare with the Z?

If its your 1st time. then expect around 14 secs

My best time to date is 12.9, thats with 409 bhp. probably averaged 13 on the day and did 5 runs at santa pod. Thats on road tyres, standard diff. But the suspension is set up for road and track not drag. I personally think the z's are terrible for drag unless you spec them for it. Ive tried everything in the past to launch and it just doesnt happen. ill get beat on shorter races by cars with half that power. Just cause the launch is so bad. Anything over a quarter mile though and ill jump all over em.
