I have my Z booked in to have some work done later this month, i am not running it as usual because I think the engine may be dying, anyway, is it best to just leave it until I have to take it, or is it best to start it up once in a while - although I have heard this can cause head gasket failures ... ??

Thanks guys, Dan

Mines been off the road since April 2008, although I did have to change the battery as it died on me completely earlier this year (had been in since I got it new in 2004), I start here now and again and she is fine anything up to five weeks apart sometimes as well.

So it depends on the condition of the battery and whether you have the alarm switched on (excluding an automatic immobiliser, which wont affect it anyway) or the clock. So don't turn the alarm on, diss the clock and all should be well!

Don't start it up once in a while to leave to idle. WORST thing you can possibly do.
