Hi all, i hope someone can shed some light:

Having had my Zed for a few weeks now, i am slightly worried, as i have just started to hear a gentle gurgling noise coming from the drivers side at the back of the engine.

Only noticeable when the car is idling, and if you go to the front of the car (bonnet open you cant hear it, but if you bend down with your head near the steering wheel (ie with the door open) then you can hear it.

It sounds a bit like fluid gurgling or bubbling through a system - this is the only way to describe it really.

Any ideas?

Thanks - a worried newbie:confused:

I haven't de catted so cant remove, is there any way of flushing out or something so as not to have to put up with gurgling?

Its simple enough deleting the AIVs, also gets reid of some of that nasty pipework in the engine bay to simplify things too.

It says on the 'how to' guide that you cannot remove the tanks without taking the wings off, but you can if you put your mind to it, bit of weight saving whilst you are at it! ;)

Thanks guys, i don't have the skills to remove these or replace, but i am going to see a very nice fellow member next week (thank you Richard) who is very kindly going to show me how to do a few bits - i will ask him to have a look and then the following week i'm going to Zworld i think, so i can ask them too.

Cheers guys

If you have a search on here, you can drill a small drain hole in them to let the water out - easier than removing if you don't fancy it...

ditching the AIV nice and easy,

get rid of the solenoid, all tubing in the engine bay,

the metal pipework on the side of the engine,

and the actual units, in each wheel arch :)

Yep sounds like a.i.v, can ditch if you`re mechanically minded enough, just remember to plug any vac lines/hoses left.
