I am finally looking to upgrade my stock headlights to HIDs but am a little confused as to which ones to get....

...my understanding is that there are different wavelengths which give off slightly different colour light and that some might even be illegal on a road car??

Does anyone have anymore info? I've had a look on DTA/Smithys but I'm still confused...:(

Between 4000k and 6000k will give you a good all round whiter light, the higher in number gives you more blue and eventually purple light.

I believe that most manufactures fit 4500k from the factory.

If you want it for road use I wouldn't recommend anything above 8000k

As Dave said. I have 6000k Kingswood HID'S, best upgrade for the money by far.

Did you get yours from DTA and what is this Kingswood? Is it just a name or are they actually better??

Hi,

Just seen this thread!

My recommendation is always to go for no higher Kelvin rating than 6000K - this produces crisp white light with a very slight blue hue. Any higher rating (ie, 8000K or even 10000K) and the light becomes bluer and actual light output goes down. 6000K is just right.

I can still do 300ZX specific kits for £99.00 inclusive of delivery and 1 year warranty on both ballasts & bulbs. All available from UK stock.

Let me know if you wish to discuss this further and/or place an order.

All the best,

Thanks for all the replies guys...I've decided to go with Dan's HIDs :smash:

very wise choice mate;)
