Hi,

My ZED has been cleansed of all unwanted tosh and the vacuum lines are simplified as per the drawing below BUT...

VacuumLines-NowSimple.jpg

with the addition of the Boost Sensor still being connected to the balance bar - which is NOT shown in the drawing below!

Is this an error in the drawing - or because I have an AUTO??

**** Sorry - which is not shown in the drawing ABOVE - that should say

dont understand what you mean.

the drawing is correct, there is a boost sensor there?

i beleive its on the other side tho, as that pic is for the US/left hand drive.

have you got a problem with your boost sensor or a vacuum leak?

OK - the problem is I am not explaining myself very well ;-))

There is no boost sensor in this schematic!

here is the origonal setup.

the sensor is on the right of the pic, labeled boost sensor lol

people have been goin wild on the pic lately and editing it to show what they have :)

are you trying to say your car doesnt have the standard sensor? or just confused about the previous diagram

Erm yeah thanks man - but this is the original setup - not the simplified setup that is shown above - all I want to know is given that I have the simplified setup - DO I NEED THE BOOST SENSOR connection - or is that someone's error (or maybe a NA setup)?

My car is as per th efirst diagram - but with a boost sensor.

Cheers again.

think the original cleaned up pic was legraths and maybe he has an aftermarket boost gauge so has taken the stock one out!

OK TA - IT'S JUST FOR THE GAUGE IS IT THAT ALL?

Cheers Dan

yep i tapped into mines for the boost gauges ect.

yea its for the standard gauge in the car,

you know, the in-accurate one lol.

fine to have disconected/removed.

just make sure you have the balance bar blocked off tho, as will result in vacuum leak :)

Anything like this picture available for a N/A please, i still have some vacuum lines that need to go somewhere or be deleted, and would be nice to know what bits to either connect or block up. thankiess in advance.

sorry to jump on this thread but what is the advantage of simplifying the vacuum lines? Is it just to get rid of hoses that are not needed and prone to leaking. Id be looking at doing something like this is i knew why and what do you use to cap of the unwanted sections? Thanks for clearing up this simple question

Marty

this is to delete unwanted pipe work from around the engine and eliminate components of the engine system that likely can cause vacuum leaks at some point. simplifying the engine bay lowers the risk of vacuum leaks and shortens the amount of work involved in trying to track down one later. also cleans up the engine bay so its easier to work on later.

Im actually after the diagram for a N/A so i know what to plug in where. as some of the pipes i have still haven't been connected, and the markers i put on came off. also some of them i just completely forgot to mark.

Would be nice to know where they go for those who do not want to eliminate these systems. although my new engine starts, its smelling a bit rich. so was hoping to connect these pipes and see if that sorts out the problem before i look else where.

The service manuel is no help due to it looking like someone did the diagram with a marker pen, and is somewhat hard to follow.

Hi Marty,

It's really just part of the process of cleaning up and simplifying the engine bay. It's personal choice but I have deleted the EGR, AIV's AVCR, PRVR, carbon canister, water bypass, done a PCV re-route, air con delete - as per the first post. Some of the jibs are just - "good to do's" whilst the plenum is iff etc. But yep - the less vacuum lines the better AFAIAC.

It's more a case of deleteing the feature (AIV, EGR) though - rather than just ripping off the vacuum lines of course :D

Hope that helps.

Andy
