or...

Fuel pump -> fuel line -> Y splitter -> 2 lines, 1 to each fuel rail, 2 lines return to FPR via Y splitter -> 1 line return to tank

i was going to run 2 lines from 2 pumps, both feeding the front of each fuel rail to keep it cooler and then T it into 1 return pipe

Hmmm I originally thought the same - but then I talked myself out of the two pumps part of the deal. As I see it the problem is only that injector 6 and possibly 3 can suffer starvation right? So just Tee'ing the supply to each side as you suggested should fix that - especially as I plan to up the pressure with a racing regulator. So I thought two pumps would be overkill (for me personally). But I am not an engine guru and will take advice accordingly.

I have 2 pumps via 2 lines -> 2 fuel filters -> y-piece -> 1-line into fuel rail -> fuel pressure adj -> 1 line back to the tank

So Jaffa you have added extra pump and filter - but you still have the original single stock feed into - and out of the rail right?

WHY?

Because...cylinder 6 usually goes first because it's at the end of the fuel rail so potentially receives less fuel thus leaning out resulting in pinging and worse.

that's right. border fuel rail with 850cc inj.

only problem I see with 1 pump per line is you're screwed if you loose a pump!

yeh realised what i had said was wrong, we were going to run a feed into the rear of the fuel rail and also run another one to the front of the rail and T into the rail :)

So Do we agree with my drawing as above gentlemen - or not? ;-)

i cant see why your way would not work, if it was mine i would run the first supply feed to where yours is going ie the bottom but i would take the return from the top ie where it does from stock and just add the 2nd feed to the front where the 2 rails join then your not upsetting the standard fuel flow.

But your preference would be feeding fuel in at two opposite ends and then to the regulator through a central 'T' junction.

i gave up on my build a long time ago LOL

our preference was to run 1 feed to the original rail feed and just run the second to the top to feed in cold fuel to the second rail then run the return as nissan intended via a FPR and a larger line

better option then messing around with T junctions, is to use an aeromotive FPR, which has two feeds and one return

Another advantage is you don't always have to run both pumps at the same time.

>problem I see with 1 pump per line is you're screwed if you loose a pump!

The Aeromotive FPR will balance the pressure in both rails, even when fed through one pump.

Lymon - thanks for that - so one of these baby's would do the trick?

Did ya see my drawing on the previous page - can you comment amend/edit to your liking - I think I'm close!! ;-))

Hmmmm... This could be the problem I'm having... Not that it's detting at the moment but it is failing a balance test (compression is good 168, coil pack good and injector firing as checked with noid light but just fails a balance test) would an aeromotive style FPR sort this do you think. There is a slight miss on tickover but this clears if you raise the fuel pressure by 7% in Conzult... Sorry for the thread hijack Andy but really want to get to the bottom of this issue!!

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Dunno is the honest answer - I am kinda learning as I go - much like yourself maybe.

Lymon may be able to tell you more - otherwise I would get it up to Tamworth and let Jeff at it. Sorry matey.

Hmmmm... Problem is that his car is now my car and although the test past initially it is now failing again... we suspect a dodgy injector but Fuel pressure could also play a part... grrrr. it's really frustrating!!!!!

Paul

yes, looks like the one, but could be a chinese copy.

In most cases it's not a good idea to use ebay as your local tuning shop.

too many chinese crap copies around of about anything you can think of.

better get it from a aeromotive (or paxton, which has the same fpr but rebadged) in the US or get it through a certified dealer. (http://www.webster-race-engineering.co.uk)

Sorry Paul - I was not aware of that fact (same car) ;-)) I think it sounds very likely that the standard fuel rail design is to blame - maybe the parallel fuel feed is worth a try in your case. Nothing to lose except more CASH!! And knuckle skin as you remove/replace your plenum yet again lol. GO FOR IT!
