Having read up up bit on car audio forums this had to be done apparently. i was unconvinced until I actually fitted it to my doors this weekend. I got about 1.25 sq metres fitted to each door over a few layers inner and outer skins and the difference is unbelieveable. Even just closing the door on the car makes a huge sound difference.

This is by far the best £40 I have ever spent on sound even changing from a £50 pair of speakers to a £250 pair didn't make as much difference. Also fitted the polyglass focal's too and it sounds stunning now. Tedious and a little mucky(bitumin based self adhesive) work but a BIG thumbs up for sound upgrade:cool:

What is it you have applied mate?

Did you just put it on your doors? Any more pictures?

One of my list of jobs still to do! What material did you use?

it's bitumin based 2mm thick(like dynamat but a little thinner but easy to apply in multile layers) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3m-x-1m-Car-Audio-Sound-Deadening-Proofing-Sheet-Mat_W0QQitemZ250487022764QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item3a5230a4ac&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 this stuff and it feckin ACE! took about 8 hrs to do both doors both skins inner and outer

more pics for craig, comes in a flat folded sheet you can put it on any metal panels in the car really. I have to do the boot next to get rid of vibration there(although it seems to have gone by just doing the doors) , strip that out and sheet it. Some people do under the carpets too but i'm not gonna bother as the carpet should cope with that ok

take it you just remove the door card and cover the complete are that it covers?

yup get door card off wind window up(to gain access to inside of door cavity for deadening) clean door down with meths to remove dust & grease residue, cut matting into workable squares for each area, stick 'em on everywhere you can basically overlapping and use multiple layers to get it nice and thick, press them down firmly or use a small wallpaper roller. When fiished you can also get a hairdryer on it to warm it up and give it a real good firming down

when i spoke to my mate who used to work a bass junkies, they say to stick the deadening to the inside of the outer door skin, so you trap the sound from the rear of the speaker aswell. it looks way too difficult to put it in the place he suggested so i was going to do mine the same as yours. nice job glad it works well.

that's what i've done it's everywhere both skins. It's not too bad with the outer door skin just have to cut it into small 6"ish squares and overlap them. I managed to do the whole outer skin no problems a REAL improvement in sound quality.

Just bought the 8m x 1m roll! Door cards are off and the boot is bare at the moment so ideal time to do this.

cool you should be able to do most of the car with that lot fella, boot floor everything. Sticks real well just ensure you wipe the panels with meths or ind alchol to get grease off sticks like sh!t to a blanket :D

how much does the stuff weigh?

suprisingly not a lot 3sq metres was less than pack of printer paper maybe at a guess

i did that to mine. its surprising how much of a difference it makes. i just need to find a way of stopping the window mech from rattling now then it will close like a new car door.!

I got the same awhile ago, did both doors, all of boot, under rear seat, rear footwells plus some of the rear panels to loose some of the road noise and still had a bit spare:rolleyes:

Used the wifes hair dryer, she was not impressed:nono:

My last zed had this, worked great in the doors.

Still noisy from the boot,so the best road roar/ exhaust deadener i found is another oversized carpet/floormats under stock carpet, on top of wooden pieces.
