ive got an idle issue with my car,

im just going down my garage, as i think i know of 1 vac leak, (and im also gonna remove the AIV & FPRV thing in the wing)

apart from clean the idle valve,

only other thing i can think of is the TPS.

gonna clean the conenctor, but how can i test it?

if i remove it should the revs increase/decrease? that way i know if i remove it and nothing happens il know thats a possible cause?

You really need to check the voltage to be able to know how to set the TPS. Easiest way it through ConZult. But you can via multimeter.

I think you take the signal from the middle wire and set the other probe to battery terminal. You should get a reading of about 0.44v. If it's out, you need to adjust until you get the correct output of around 0.44-0.48v.

To adjust it, there are two small screws on the side, loosen those and turn it until you get the desired reading. If this has no effect on the voltage reading then you either have a duff sensor or cack wiring. I had to replace my TPS.

if when the car is running you disconnect it, the revs should hunt around for a bit and settle at about 1500 rpm, if it claps out then your base idle is set too low

hmm

at the moment the car is idleing on 600rpm, removing the TPS apears not to have any difference.

when i rev the car, and the revs come back down the car just cuts out.

its fine when cold, but when car warms up its crap?

TPS. Probably reading out of range then. On cold, it uses base idle map. You might even have an error code stored.

Revs will be higher when cold...its part of the "on choke" cold start running mode.

Have you checked your base idle?

could be a knackered tps, or your base idle is too low, i know if mine was ticking over and i disconnected it, it would dip in revs then go high then low and eventually settle at a higher than tickover speed, once i fooked on with the base idle then done it and it clapped out

i havent played about with the base idle no,

i know where it is tho.

what do you recomend i do first?

Edit! Wrong ****ing thread! Doh!

ok, so you mean just adjust the tickover up, so the car runs on 1000rpm

then do the TPS?

if the idle valve makes no diff, then i guess i know its the idle valve which is dirty?

I personally think adjusting the base idle is the last thing you should do as your going to be compensating for other problems should they exist, go through the whole system, make sure its right then at the end if needed disconnect the AAC solenoid and adjust the base idle.

Use a multimeter and connect to the tps side of the connector, i tried using the spades in the connector, but no joy, only way to get a good feed is the shave plastic to expose the copper wires. Then connect up. on tick over should be reading 0.44-0.48 volts. If to low it zeros out, if to high will show 3.-4. something. Best way to adjust is slightly undo 2 x screws and tap the tps either clockwise or anti clockwise, to get it as close as you can.

If stuck let me know and i will give you a bell.

thanks guys, ive just came back from the garage,

removing the TPS while idling did nothing at all. as did adjusting the IAA.

cleaned bothe connectors, nothing still.

i think i can hear a leak, near the actuall AAC/IAA valve itself, (constant hissing)

im going out now, so il have a read thoroughly of everyones posts here, and do as you say to iminate things.

car will idle on 1000 when i tap the accelarator to balance it there, just wont stay there after you rev it (hunts etc)
