I bought this light panel and noticed it has an extra connector - would this be for the '300zx' logo on the back? If so, I'm assuming it will be led's fitted...is there a connector to hook this up from the factory, or is it something I'll have to add?

Need to see pic of the outer side to establish 2 things.

1. Is it for a fog light

2. if the 300zx is not silver ie has a el panel in. If so then the wires will be a + and -, connect to battery and see what happens.

If its illuminated will need a convertor.

I have two panels here, the one with the wires has slightly raised lettering and a hint of red compared to the other panel with no wires.

If I photograph the panel, what am I needing to try and highlight?

I can't see how the wires are for a fog as they disappear behind the paneling.

Mikey - it's not anything to worry about but it would be good to see where the wires go to :)

lol. i hope its not the 300zx bit that lights up as i wouldent of sold it if i had known. lol

Oh dear, it could be............

I would have had it if I knew it lit up LOL

Hmm well maybe it doesn't light up lol maybe the leds are damaged, need to know really if they need an invertor or just run off 12v...

Looks like the connector for the illuminated 300ZX logo, you just need to plug the inverter in and connect it up and you should have it working.

That does look like the factory light up rear panel connector. It used a Electroluminescent strip, rather than LED's.

It is however missing its invertor, so you would need to get one for it to work, then it just needs a 12v positive and an earth feed to it.

price the invertor up at your local dealer, thats a gem of a find!

Yes 12v supply, connects straight into the cars loom behind the panelling in the boot

Zed Sean is selling the invertors for just 7 bucks in the for sale section.

cheers

I'm also trying a mod on this panel - I'm guessing someone will have tried it before, others will see no point to it I guess...

I'm splitting the light housing into two sections, each with it's own bulb (led's in this case) so that the bottom lights will be reversing lights and the top two will be fog lights - I'm itching to get rid of the annoying add on fog light!

Will post pics of how it turns out if anyone's interested.

Well my uk zed has the 2 reverse lights at the bottom buddy.

dont know if thats standard on the uk ones or not tho.

I've no idea either but on the two panels I have here, all four clear lenses would be lit by the bulbs.

god damn it. wish i hadent sold it now. lol. oh well. you got a bargain there then bud.

If it's any consolation, I do feel guilty, I've done similar things in the past. I just assume that everyone on here knows more than me on the finer details of the Zed...

all models have the 4 reverse lights. Looks good IMO. but often on imports people will convert 2 to fogs rather than have an unsightly fog light hanging down.

Well the lights will still look white unless the fogs are on, small sacrifice to lose the aftermarket fog light, not often the rear fog is used so it's really for MOT purposes.

Yeah this is factory fitted, it's a paper thin light unit behind the 300zx letters i had one on mine. it should connect to a white inch square box bolted behind the light units. Mine doesn't work i'm presuming the box (resistance unit or something) is knackered as it buzzes quite loudly. If you get it working should look sweet.
